I'm on a needle-in-a-haystack search.
An "unknown" WYLIE family possibly lived in Johnson County Indiana around 1860s-1870s (no idea how much earlier or later)--or in a nearby county.
This WYLIE family would have been related to or connected to possibly the BLUME family (of WVA) or the BERRYMAN family (of Ohio).
The only information I have is that:
For some reason, Marietta Berryman, daug of Thomas S. Berryman of Ohio, was in Johnson County Indiana in 1868. Possibly she attended a Female Seminary there?? (just making a guess). OR possibly she was visiting a WYLIE relative (family story that WYLIE were relatives 'in Indiana'). There, she married Joseph BLUME in 1868. They are in WVA in 1870 Census before the children were born. They later had:
Mary
William T.
Within 3 months of William T. Blume's birth in about 1875, Marietta Berryman Blume died. Supposedly Joseph Blume gave the children to be raised by a related WYLIE family "somewhere in Indiana" (family story). I'm assuming since the marriage was in Johnson County IN that the related WYLIE family was in the same county, or a nearby one.
I am NOT familiar with Johnson Co., its towns, or its genealogical resources.
I tried searching the Census using combinations of the BLUME children's names with WYLIE as HOH but came up empty and with children under either Wylie OR Blume.
If anyone can suggest something else I could try... Or if you recognize the story of a WYLIE family raising 2 BLUME children in the late 1870s to maybe 1890, I'd like to hear from you.
Thanks!
