I received this e mail and would love to know if anyone can identify this cemetery. I have deleted the personal information of the sender but can contact him if anyone can help us with this. I am hoping to go down and check it out this summer.

"When I was much younger, about 25 years ago, I used to clean and maintain a cemetery that is back in the woods near my father’s farm. One time I cleaned and raked it and was able to count about 90 graves but only about 30 or so had visible markers. Many are probably fallen over into the sunken graves, many have been vandalized. I went back to visit it yesterday and found it has been vandalized again and trees have fallen in it and many of the markers that used to stand have fallen or have been knocked over. I can not find this cemetery on any maps or lists of cemeteries in Jennings County. It is located in Bigger Township just over the Campbell Township line. It overlooks Otter Creek from the North looking South, just West of Indiana Gardens. I ran across the name of Rev. Wm. T. Stott who pastored in Vernon starting in 1825. His grave is there as well as his family. Some of the names there are Moncreif, Stott, Phares, one Civil War grave of a soldier named Gideon O. Trickey who was a musician with the 6th Indiana Infantry. I think the most recent grave I found was 1926. I would really like to know the name of this cemetery."

This is the Wilson Mill Cemetery, also known as Reed Cemetery, and is in Vernon Township.

Thank you Bonita;

I had sent the cemetery question to both the Mailing List and the message board, just in case. I appreciate all the help.

Sheila
