I am trying to find the name of Mary "Polly" Wainscott's father. Mary Wainscott married Daniel Lett in Owen Co. KY in 1824; the couple moved to Jennings county, Indiana shortly after their marriage.

And a second question:
How is Greenville Wainscott who married Elizabeth PEOPLES on 7 October 1835 in Jennings county, IN related to Mary "Polly" Wainscott?

There are numerous records for Daniel Lett at Coffee Creek Baptist church beginning in September of 1828. Family oral tradition says Daniel and Polly made their move to Indiana by 1827.

Mary "Polly" Wainscott (Winscott/Winscutt) married Daniel Lett 5 Dec 1824, Owen Co. KY. (book 1A).
Letter of consent was written by Catherin Winscott mother, and Richard Winscott guardian.
Testators: John McGibney and John Winscott. The marriage was performed in early February 1825 apparently.

"Consent of parent is given: We do certify that we have given our consents for a marriage between my daughter, and my sister, Mary Winscot, and Daniel Lett, the clerk or deputy clerk of Owen county court is hereby authorized and requested to issue a license accordingly. Given under our hands and seals this 11th day of February 1824 . Catherin Winscot (seal), Richard Winscot (guardian). Witnesses by John C Winscot & John McGibney"

There are issues with my information on Mary Wainscott. I have been told that Mary was the sister of Greenville. If that is true, the dates and lineage I have for the Wainscott family are completely wrong.

This record gives these relationships to Mary "Polly" Wainscott:
mother: Catherine Wainscott
brother/guardian: Richard Wainscott
and presumes these relationships:
brother: John C Wainscott jr
brother-in-law: John McGibney (married Drusilla Wainscott on 15 Jun, 1820 in Owen Co KY).

That particular Catherine Wainscott is said to be Catherine ELROD (born 12 Feb 1750 Conewago Creek, Lancaster Co. PA) wife of John C Wainscott (married 14 Dec 1769 Rowan Co. NC). The problem with that is that various sources give the date of Catherine's death as 1804 to 1811---too early to have signed off on Mary "Polly" Wainscott's marriage in 1824.

Does anyone have specific information about Catherine ELROD Wainscott's date of death? Or have I confused generations of people with the same given names?

Several of Catherine's children and grandchildren moved to Jennings county, IN. Among those are a Lewis Wainscott, supposedly the son of Joseph Wainscott and Nancy Ann Richardson. Lewis was born about 1816. He had a brother named Greenville allegedly born 1824.

If Greenville was truly born in 1824, he was a bit too young to have married Elizabeth PEOPLES 7 October 1835 in Jennings county, IN. On the other hand, Greenville and Lewis Wainscott appear in an estate record in 1838. (1838 James Buckles estate- widow Margaret; [Jennings Co. IN Probate book C p85-87, 89-90; 161-163) implying some sort of relationship between the two men.

I would certainly appreciate any corrections or additions to this information. This is a collateral line for me. Daniel Lett and Patsy Lett PEOPLES were siblings of my 3rd great-grandfather, Isham Lett, born about 1790 in Wilkes county GA.
