Thanks ELL. I had already found the census data, but did not notice that Joe's birthplace was recorded in North Carolina.

If any more info can be found on either marriage or Joe's parentage I would be greatly appreciative! Thanks.

Looking for more info about Joe Wilson who lived in Jasper County as a dairy farmer for some time. He married Bertha Porter sometime between 1920 and 1930 - I have been unable to locate any official documents. They had a few children including Gwendoly, Elwin and Alice. He may also have been previously married to an Effie Carter? and had two more children Flavilla and Thomas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I found a post card today (Nov 2,2012) on ebay that has so much good information. I tried to find some of the names on ancestry.com but thought it might be best to post here. I have attached a picture of the back which hopefully will come through. If not email me and I can send to you directly.

It was mailed from Renssaelaer to an Anna Reed in Urbana, Indiana. The names mentioned are Bessie and baby Kathryn Ellen are doing fine. She was named after Grandma Kessinger It is postmared July 29 and I see a date of 1913 on it which may be part of the post mark. It looks like it is signed by Grace.

One time I found a post card on ebay that my grandmother sent to her sister in 1911. It was such a great find and I treasure it.

I hope this is helpful to someone.
Marilyn

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I can't tell you how exciting this is, you are confirming things that I have guessed at but have not yet been able to validate. WOW! I have been corresponding with someone, who is related to Josepha Stephan Zeller (Zoeller) and has a beautiful family tree on Roots Web. I had told him that I believed that my great grandmother, Magdalena Zipperle Stelzer, whose mother was Christine Stephan, was the niece of Josepha and Anton Stephan. You have given me facts that coincide with his family history showing Lorenz Stephan as the father. I am very new to geneology and have not yet tried my hand at the microfilms of LDS but hopefully I will order some and view them nearby. I live in Lombard, IL and my email is dheimb@hotmail.com, I have some wonderful old pictures of Magdalena. I hear she was quite a gal from what my aunt, Marie Stelzer told me.

Hello,
I continue to research the Untergrombach films weekly and have learned A LOT about extracting the information the faithful priests recorded hundreds of years ago. There are 5 films that contain the Kirchenbuch (church book) of the parish there. It is a wonderful little town and I will surely visit there soon. Almost everybody was related and the major surnames are all related to me (and you), often through multiple lines. Copies of the 5 films are on permanent loan at my local LDS Church Family History Center. It is there that I study them and record what I find. I have your great-grandmother in my family history file, but since my direct ancestor is her great-grandfather, I didn't pursue finding her husband and children, etc. But the information on all the births, marriages and deaths in Untergrombach is in the films to be found. So here are two things you can do.
First, I have run across the email address of someone who is pursuing family history work on Simon Stelzer and Magdalena Zipperle and their descendants. It is waiawa.lynne@gmail.com and I hope it is current. I expect that this person would be thrilled to hear from you.
Second, I have Reinhardt Zipperle's ancestry 5 or so generations back to the beginning of the films (about 1680) and can give you that. My reading of the film is that his wife was named Katharina Stephan born 21 Jan 1838 to Lorenz Stephan and Magdalena Schloffler, but haven't traced them back further than that.
You can order the films yourself on line at familysearch.org from the catalog tab on the home page. do a search on place name untergrombach and you can get the numbers of the films of the kirchenbuch. They will ship them to a nearby Family History center.
I would be happy to help you with this. My name is Larry Doll. I live in Central Point, Oregon. My phone number is 541-531-1049 (cell). My email is ldoll@mighty.net.

Good hunting, Your cousin, Larry

Recently found your message re. the research you did some time ago from Untergrombach. All three of these names, Siegrist, Zipperle and Zoller are familiar in my family. Magdalena Zipperle was the daughter of Reinhart and Christine Stephan. I am trying to connect her to the Zeller family of Chicago because I was told Christine was related to Josepha Stephan Zeller. If you have any information on this family or could direct me to the film from Untergrombach that you referred to, I would be most grateful.
Donna

Hi Lori
I am trying to verify the marriage of Thomas Foster Downing to his second wife Elizabeth Long (first wife Lydia Timmons)and verification of their children Alice Sarah, Isreal, John, Virgil, and Elvira. Marriage should have occurred in 1850-51 as they had their first child in 1851. He lived in Jasper - 1850 census - with his children from his first wife and his parents . In 1850 she lived in Boone Ind with her parents. He died and was buried in Jasper in 1857 (headstone in local cemetery Welsh Cemetary Rensselear). The wife Elizabeth then moved back home with her parents (Iowa)and later remarried. Any verification that his parents were Francis Woodward Downing and Elizabeth Foster would also be helpful.

Thanks for your help.

philbrock47@gmail.com

Did either of you ever find your family MILLS?

Now, today, with DNA testing, has sorted us all out nicely.

In to smaller areas of research, above and beyond all else.

Just asking.

Am curious too, now, about the James MILLS - and the two GUSTIN ladies of Warren Co Ohio.

Does any one know who was John's father's father and siblings names??

Says of PA born ca 1800.

Also aka James L MILLS. Died in Indiana.

Interestingly, there are several MILLS Men on the 1810 Census for Pennsylvania, and most have a male child 10 or under.

Which would be James, spouse of the GUSTIN Ladies, of Warren County Ohio, USA area.

Assuming that the MILLS family, stayed in the same area for a while???

Did they too move on to the Northwest Territory when it was opened for settlement 1788 after all the others??

Now there are 7 DNA Kits that match each other, pretty much on the MILLS DNA Project web site,
www.familytreedna.com under MILLS.
and on the MILLS Chart - All under "ungrouped". #172022. No name listed.

This 7th Kit to be posted soon by the MILLS admin to the category 600 or 600a.

Patricia
cw

Are:
1. James or James L MILLS - the two GUSTIN Ladies of Warren Co Ohio and Madison Co Indiana USA. (they were cousins, Bethany, and Bethania or Bethana.

On the GUSTIN side, does seem by way of all that has been posted/shared "Out there" links back via marriages to a William HOWARD and Tamar MILLS,

Her MILLS line of Warwickshire England.

Thomas MILLS - Tamar ASHBY of Warwickshire, England.

At least, if and I say again, BIG BIG BIG, IF, all of what every one

else has posted/shared, they seem to be all related, through marriages, etc.

Patricia
cw
Seems no one of the many data files, this web site and www.ancestry.com DO NOT HAVE Parents for James.

Seems odd to me, after all these years.

Good info - Thanks. I visted Remington, Blue Grass, and Arkansas. I was hoping to find the original Irvine homestead in Indiana but failed. The trip to Remington from Chicago was very bad. Clogged highways all the way. It was pretty much a wasted trip. The trip to Blue Grass where my father was born was nice. I got a real good feel for the area and somehow felt at home. The trip to Arkansas was fantastic. The Dalton's treated me like royalty and took me to places not on the map. I saw the original Dalton homestead and met many Dalton's including two who were related to Dalton's who had spent many years researching the clan. I went to the Dalton Cemetary and a couple of years later, went to a reunion. Ida Irvine was a saint to these people. She went down every years with food and medicine. Ella, has great memories making the trek. The Dalton's came here in the early 1700's, wrorking their way west. Rgds Fred

I don't have any information online. My Grandmother was Doris McKay. Donald Irvine is my uncle. Here is a link to a biography of Richard P. Irvine that mentions John http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1919ks/i/irvinerp.h... I appreciate the info.

Looks like you have more info on John than I do. There is some info on John in The Remington, Jasper County, Indiana History. He was on of the early homesteaders and had a large farm and plowing business. He was known as "Uncle Jonny Irvine". John was killed by a bull.Your Grandmother must have been Doris McKay. Donald Irvine, William's son, and I write one another every few years. Do you keep in contact with him? William's sister Ella is still alive. She will be 102 in December. She lives in a nursing home outside of Indianapolis. I call her every 2 or 3 weeks. I found her living in Galt, California in 1994. She gave me a lot of info on The Irvine's and Dalton's. I have never found anyone who knows why Harry Jefferson left Indiana to go to Arkansas. I noticed that he gave a lot of false info on several census forms and wonder if he was running from someone or something. Peter Cowan, Clara & Harry Fuller's grandson, has quite a bit of info on ancester.com. Re John, my guess is that he came from Northern Ireland. Many of the Irish who came during that time were running from religious discrimination from the British who controlled the area. Have you put any info on-line? Rgds Fred
