I have found Oscar in the Funeral home records of Jasper Co. Jackson funeral home did the burial, the DeMotte branch, or wheatfield, not sure....

I do believe that Jackson Funeral home owns the cemetery...contact them for a map and they may do some searches, but not sure. Unfortunatley, she alphabetized the reading, so have no idea who is next to who or anything like that....I just picked up the reprint of Crider's book for my birthday.

Hannah Emerson Pattee b. 03 Oct 1813 Alexandria, Grafton, NH d. 1905 Alexandria m. Amos Gordon had 4 children according to my notes. Hannah was born to William and Judith (Worthen) Pattee. Amos to Jesse & Susanna (Bartlett) Gordon.

We have Hannah's ancestry back to Peter(1) Pattee b. 1644-46 probably London d. 1724 Haverhill, Essex, MA.

wow laura, that's interesting. I had always thought that Alice was from albert and mary etta. You're making it sound like she was from albert and belle. I know even less about Belle then i do about Albert. That's interesting. Alice was my great grandmother and she left my great grandfater (John) when my grandfather was only about 8 so we really don't know too much.

Hi Destinee,

Albert Ernest Patee is my grandfather, my dad Floyd Wayne was one of his sons by his second wife Mary Etta Imhoff-Patee-Kerr. His first wife was Belle Kite from Oklahoma, they had two children Claude and Alice and Aunt Alice was married to Johnnie Crow, not sure to what tribe he belonged. According to family ledgend there was Indian in the family. I have yet to figure this out. My Dad said we were from the Chickasaw tribe, still have no idea if grandfather's father was married to an Indian or what. The family moved back and forth from Oklahoma to Kansas quite a bit.

It has been some time since I have done anything with my family history. I am sure there are others who know more than I.

Could someone let me know if there would be obituaries for someone who died in 1845 in Jasper Co., Indiana? The obit I need is for Henry Noland, died 17 Aug 1845. He is buried in Smith Cemetery.

I would also appreciate it if someone would take a look at the list of those buried in Smith Cemetery and let me know if there are any other Nolands/Nolans buried there as well as any Ashbys.

A few years back I purchased an Indiana Atlas & Gazetteer which has detailed county maps with townships. Cost about $20, and has been one of the best purchases I have made. I do know Barnes & Nobles carries them, maybe even Target, Walmart or Sam's Club.

This map is on the INGenWeb - Jasper County site:

and in comparing this map to the Gazetteer map, it appear it hasn't changed from 1875 to current day. I hope this helps..................Karen

Otto Rosentreter was my grandfather and his family spelled it with an "e" until their children were born and then they changed it to an "a". His two brothers Gustav Herman and Martin also did this with their children. Even his Uncle Michael who immigrated to America stayed a Rosentreter after immigration but his children all became Rosentraters.
My father told me it was because Americans did not pronounce it right with the "e" so to get the pronunciation right they began to use the "a".

F.M. Lewis signed as informant on Martha Fowler (spelled Fauler) Sanders death certificate on October, 1924 in Soda, Polk Co., TX. Martha was my great great aunt. I do not know which Sanders she was married to, nor do I know if she had children or how F.M. Lewis is related and why he/she signed the death certificate. Other than census records and her death certificate, I know nothing else about her. Any information that would help find out more about her is most appreciated.
