Researching the following families: Matthew ZEHRDEN & Katherine HAHN, m c1830 Prussia, emigrated to US c1871, first to Wisconsin, then Jordan Twp, Jasper Co. Had 14 children, only 6-7 surviving to adulthood.
Daughter Anna ZEHRDEN m Nicholas WAGNER, in Chicago, 1877, and returned to Jasper Co.
Daughter Katherine ZEHRDEN b 1859 m Jacob WAGNER, Jasper Co 1878 and had the following children:
Katherine b 1880 m Michael KUBOSKE
**Mary Marie b 1882 m Charles SCHMIDT
Anna Madaline b 1885 m1 Leon CUMMINS m2 Harry MILNER
Fred b 1889 m Neasica LANHAM
John b 1892 m Margaret JANSSEN
Lucy b 1895 m William LAMB
** line of descent
I suspect Nicholas and Jacob (b 1852) WAGNER are brothers. There is also John WAGNER (b 1844) who lived next to Jacob in Carpenter Twp for 20+ years, as well as Phillip (b 1840) WAGNER on 1880 census. Their father was probably John WAGNER, age 70, retired farmer on Jordan Twp 1880 census, widower.
The WAGNER's emigrated c1869-70, first to Illinois, then Indiana by 1875. All were farmers living in Jordan and Carpenter Twp's. Many are buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
I would appreciate any information anyone could share on these families. I am happy to share the bit of info I have.
