T.W.,
I am the great granddaughter of Hattie May Sparks Hoard, sister to your Elsie Edith Sparks. I've corresponded with Susan about our Ancestry. Please e-mail me about this at CBierer42@aol.com

I hope you hear from this Susan. I don't know of any connection I have to yours. But let me know if you don't as I might have a lead for you to find out if all else fails.

Marguerite,
What exactly are you looking for. My line of Sparks in Jennings and Jackson County Indiana go back to Thomas Sparks and his wife Joanne circa 1615 in England. I can give you the line if you need it. Cheryl

My great grandfather 6 times removed was James Sparks. He was born in NJ around 1750 and died in Jackson Ind in 1834. He served in the Revolutionary War as a private and had a brother Colonel Richard Sparks who also served. Is there any connection?

Yes, this James Sparks is a direct ancestor of my husband. James lived for a time in Jefferson County Kentucky. James had a son Walter who married in Henry Co. Ky and died in Orange Co. Indiana. Walter had a son William who remained in Henry Co. Ky. William had a son Thomas who is my husbands great-grandfather. Small world isn't it?

Hi Marguerite,

I just got your e-mail & you are the first "relatives" that I have managed to contact so far. I have a fairly extensive family tree (& growing everyday) that you and/or your husband might like to see. If you got to Rootsweb & look for Homer Lee Sparks (my grandfather) born 3-5-1896 in Lincoln Ks you should be able to get to it. It has the Sparks family back to around 1725, probably coming over from England.

I also just got the Revolutionary War Pension records for James Sparks on micro film from the Latter Day Saints. Seems he was awarded a $40 per YEAR pension in 1832 but, unfortunately, he died before ever collecting it.

By the way, it's starting to look like James may have had two families (wives & children) at the same time, one in Philadelphia with a woman named Ann Pearson (they had 3 kids) & his other one with Catherine (the mother of James), they had 11!

Mike

I have always wondered if he may have had more that one wife but had not found any proof of another. Much of what I have way back it from the Sparks Quarterly. I did not know that there were that many children of James either.
