Richard H. Rahn, 79, 8 Stoneridge Dr., died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at his home. Mr. Rahn was a lifelong resident of Huntington. He was a locomotive engineer who retired in 1976 after 35 years with the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. He was a 1939 graduate of Huntington High School and receive a degree in drafting from Tri-State College. He was a sergeant in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church. He was also a 56-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 486 F&AM, the Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, Floral Chapter No. 75 Order of Eastern Star, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Local 221, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689. He was born Aug. 18, 1921 in Chicago to Elmer H. and Faith Emley Rahn. His marriage was Dec. 31, 1942, in Denver, to the former Ireta M. Farrell. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Edwin L. Rahn, Ossian, and Dennis R. Rahn, Indianapolis; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lowell (Charlotte) Ellabarger, Indianapolis. Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Marti Lundy and Rev. Lyle Ewing officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Home Health Care and Hospice, 204 S. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750; Erie-Lackawanna Historical Society-Archives, care of Larry DeYoung, 91 Old Croton Rd., Flemington, NJ 08822; or Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington, IN 46750.
