I have hit a brick wall. My GGGF was William
Peak and he had 9 children. I know that he had at least 3 wives and family history had that the youngest 6 girls (Sarah, Ethel,
Hattie, Mae,
Cora and Elizabeth) were by his 2nd wife Alice
Winkler. I have not been able to find anything on her.
I recently obtained a copy of a letter from Dr. W. T. Lawson, County Health Commissioner of
Hendricks County written in April 1943. My
GAunt Cora had written trying to get birth records for herself and her sisters.
Dr. L. stated that the records for
Cora (8/3/1885 in Middle Township) listed "Alice Wheley" as her mother. I have also seen the name listed as "Alice Wrilfy" on the WPA birth transcriptions.
Ethel's (1/8/1888) lists her mother as "Afrila
Johnson"
and Mae (4/6/1889) lists her mother as "unknown"
Anyone know anything about these women? It is possible that he had more than the 3 wives we know about....my GGM stated that there were many women that lived in their home over the years.
