My inquiry is to Cass County, Indiana concerning Boehmer & Scherer, these are two names that are in my family tree altho spelled differently. BEAMER, David Born 5, May 1797 in Frederich County, Maryland and he married Christina Sheer the daughter of John and Margaretha Frederick in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co. Ohio 18 Jan. 1838. This may have been Davids second marriage, there was a David Beamr in the 1830 census of Licking co. Ohio who was listed with 2 sons and 1 daughter all under 5 yrs. of age. David Beamer B. 1797 died 2 Feb. 1850 in Adams Co., Ill. there children Peter, David !!, Jacob, E. Carolina and Catherina were baptised 17 Feb. 1850 in Salem Ev. Church, Quincy, Ill. by Rev. Chris Chung. Marion and John two older children were not living in the household at this time. Marion is my GGreatgrandfather and served in the Civil war as did 6 of his brothers, I can only verify Marion, John, Peter and Jacob. Jacob died while in the service.
BOEHMER is the German spelling of this name and was used in the Baptism ceremony, but all the Beamers I have known use Beamer. The Scherer name has many different spellings, Christina name was SHEARER, when writen on her marriage liscense. Her father was named SCHARR. (Johannes) Johann Conrad when he married Margaretha Frederick, 30 Sep. 1821 at Happurg, Mittelfranken, Bayern. This family settled in Buffalo N.Y. in 1822 then a year later moved to Gettysburg, Pa. area for 5 years then moved back to Buffalo and then moved to Ohio, they lived there till about 1845 when they moved to Adams Co., Illinois. In Illinois they spelled their name SHEAR, OR Sheer. The cemetery in Illinois is named SHEAR and this is where John Sheer was buried. I would be glad to share information with y ou. David Beamer !!! was born 1843 and was living with his Grandfather Sheer in 1860 census, I have no other records on him.

I have seen some records of Magdalene/Polly Scheirer marrying Lewis Comfort..do you know who her parents were? I am pretty sure at this point that my husband's family is descended from David Scheirer (b1799) son of Adam Scheurer/Scheirer of Lehigh Co, PA. I think Edwin (b1839) was a son of David, but haven't found a record yet. Let me know if you know anything else about the whole Lehigh Co. Scheirer clan. I am trying to figure out the whole group, but there are big gaps with many children missing.

Judy,
The parents of Madolenda "Polly" Scheirer b. 1833 is
John & Catharine (Kemmerer) Scheirer. John b. 4 Sept 1803, Lehigh CO. PA.,
His parents were;
John Scheirer b. 1780, married 1st to Elizabeth Steiner,
and 2nd to Maria Eva Ringer.
I have a complete listing of children born in both these marriages as well as the siblings of Polly.

My search is on the brother of Polly, Alfred Scheirer.
Will be happy to share my data files with the Scheirer family info I have.

Judy,
I just checked my records again on the Scheirer line and I have found that your David is a brother to our John Scheirer b. Dec 18, 1780. We have the parents of our John Scheirer as
Adam & Catharine (Hertzog) Scheirer. Adam b. 1728, died 1806.
So guess we are on the same family tree. Great to make a direct hit.

Hope I remember this right. Haven't been home before 9 for three night so haven't had a chance to look up much. The information I have (from cemetery/tombstone records) indicate that Maria Eva Ringer was the first wife of Johannes Scheurer. Elizabeth Sterner (I think) was his second wife. She is buried next to Johannes and outlived him. It also states in the cemetery records that "Joseph Scheirer son of John and Eva" was born in 1813. From the LDS I have Eva as dying in 1817 or thereabouts. I think I have a records of all the family, but would like to check it against yours.
Hopefully will get to e-mail you tonight.

Judy,

Did you receive any info., regarding the Scherer's of Franklin County, Indiana. It has been a while since you posted your message. If still interested, I am the great grandchild of Jacob Scherer - who was known as "The German" in Brookville Indiana (Franklin County, IN). Also, learned as a kid that several relatives lived in Wayne County Indiana, but had dropped the "C" out of there name over a brotherly dispute. Any info., you could provide to me would be appreciated. Unfortunately, my family does not have a great deal of info., on the family beyond Franklin County.

Regards, Janell Scherer
