It is with some interest that I have learned your Sherrys have had DNA testing performed.

My Sherrys came from N.J. to Luzerne and Northampton (the part that is now Carbon) counties in the early 1800's.

I and another Sherry (who lives in Schuylkill County and can trace his Sherrys in Schuylkill county to the early 1800's) have had (37 marker) DNA testing performed - and match exactly on 36.

It appears to me that you probably had your testing performed by a different agency and the databases have not been coordinated.

If this strikes a chord of interest, you can determine if there is a relationship FOR FREE and WITHOUT DISCLOSING YOUR SHERRY DNA PROFILE DIRECTLY TO ME by entering your profile into the database at http://www.ysearch.org/ (or Google Ysearch.org).

I hope you are interested and if you find a match, please let me know.

I am looking for information on Andy Lutes and Hazel Hartman (aka Hazel Lutes). I am not able to locate their parents. My grandfather (Robert) was son of Hazel (and possibly Andy). My grandfather went by two names also; Robert Lawrence Lutes and Robert Lawrence Hartman. Hartman is the name he used when he married my grandmother Gloria. Any information would be helpful. It is thought that Robert had 2 siblings (Viola and Richard), but we are not sure if they share the same parents.

Need newspaper search, Aug 1881, for MASSEY

Unfortunately, the 1962 Colorado Springs obituary did not list parents for Harry (Horace?) L. (Leroy) Massey. His second wife probably did not know the names of his parents. It seems likely that the official Colorado death record may also be lacking his parents' names. Hence, our only hope could well lie with the Connersville newspaper on microfilm. His obituary says that he was born in Connersville on August 3, 1881. If we are lucky, there could be a birth announcement which gives the names of his parents. Would someone be so kind as to search for it? Many thanks.

Joel Scott, 3 Jan 1843 - 25 Apr 1925 (Milton, Wayne Co, IN). Parents were Powel & Mary Ann Scott, who appear to have spent their entire lives in Fayette & Franklin Co. Though there are numerous cousins, etc in Hancock Co., there does not seem to be a logical reason for Joel to have been born in Hancock Co. Hence,I wondered if there might have been a "Greenfield" in Fayette (or Franklin) Co in the 1840's.

We have been trying to find him after 1920 when he is mentioned in his wife's, Virginia BRYANT Pearce's obituary as a survivor. Please let me know if any of this is familiar. I do remember a Willis Pearce somewhere along the line but would have to dig out notes. Thank you for your time.

Would like to know all children of Benjamin and any still in area.

Benjamin appears to have been a brother of my ancestor Willis Pearce whose son settled near St. Omer, Decatur Co., IN in 1818. Benjamin and Willis also had a brother Jonathan, of yates Co., NY and a sister Elizabeth Pearce Miller of Shelby Co., IN; she was alive there in 1833.

Thank you for any assistance

Hello,

Just learned that my Pearce family that settled in Decatur Co., IN and Shelby Co., IN and also resided near Montgomery, Hamilton Co., OH, was likely related to Benjamin Pearce the father of Hannah Pearce of Fayette Co. I think his wife was an Alice Winans. He may have been a widower by the time he arrived in either OH or Fayette Co., IN in 1819.

Not clear how many children Benjamin had but it seems there may have been Hannah, plus a James who came west in 1861 from NY where he remained in 1819, another male, and possibly a Polly Pearce and others.

Benjamin received affidavits from a brother and sister, Jonathan of Yates Co., NY, visiting relatives in IN in 1833, and a sister, Elizabeth Pearce Miller in Shelby Co. I knew that Jonathan was evidently a brother of my ancestor, Willis Pearce, who also arrived in Montgomery, OH in 1819. It appeared Willis' oldest son arrived in Whitewater Twp., Franklin Co., IN possibly as early as 1818 or maybe 1819 and was an original landowner just west of St. Omer, in Decatur Co., IN in 1820. That gives Benjamin two brothers and a sister and probably more. Wondering why Benjamin settled in Fayette Co., rather than join other Pearces and extended family in Rush, Decatur or Shelby Co.? Did his children choose Fayette Co.?

Evidently his daughter, Hannah, was married to a James Stephens. Do you have his line and their children's identification. My Willis' g-grandson, Herman A. Pearce, migrated from Shelby Co. to Fayette Co. in about 1902 and lived in the Bunker Hill area for about 11 years until moving to near Fairfield, Fayette Co., then into Connersville. Benjamin's descendants might have been his second and third cousins. I think there was a Willis Stephens, son of Hannah. The Willis name comes from Benjamin's parents, Benjamin Pearce and Ann Willis. The William Willis name, found often in my line, traces back to a prominent William Willis in this family. Ann Willis' parents were Joseph Willis and Patience Thompson. Jonathan Pearce of Yates Co., NY named a son Joseph Thompson Pearce. He may have migrated to IN as I lost him in Yates Co., NY history.

It appears Hannah had an aunt, Elizabeth Pearce Miller in Shelby Co., IN. She had a male in her line named Colville, same as in Willis.' Any help appreciated.

Would these families be in the Stephens Cemetery or the Colummbia Cemetery? Did they farm near the latter or in northern Fayette Co.?

Thanks for information.

Manville Brown was my great-grandfather. His daughter Mary Noda Brown was my grandmother. I do not know where Manville is buried, but it must be in the vicinity of where he lived in Rush County. I have never seen a picture of him. If I found out any more I will be glad to share it with you.

Do you have any information on Manville's wife, Mary Magdalin Stamm? I have not been able to identify her parents.

I have tried to find this cemetery and haven't had any luck. I guess it can't be seen from the road. Angie Smith Trusler obituary says she is buried in the Ireland Church cemetery. I would like to see if she is there.
Jennifer
