The funeral of Mrs. Eliza Sumner was held at her home yesday at 1 p.m. The high esteem in which she was held was shown by the large attendance of her friends who wished to show their last tribute. The floral pieces were beautiful, many being tokens of love.
These additional facts have been furnished us: She was born in Vermont on the first day of December, 1810. In the year 1821 she came to Cleveland, Ohio, where on the 17th day of September, 1829, she was united in marriage to James Compton. In 1834 Mr. and Mrs. Compton came to this county, where they have since resided. To this union seven children were born, six of whom are living: Harriet, Mary, Kenyon, Sarah, Amanda and Albert. She was again united in marriage to John M. Sumner in 1886, who survives her.
Mrs. Sumner had reached the age of 87 years, 7 months and 19 days, when death came. Her desire was to live, although ready to meet her Master. She lived a christian life, being converted in her early days, and lived a life filled with good deeds.
