I am interested in anyone researching the Fausch family of
Goshen. I am trying to tie them to my Fausch line in
Michigan City as well as a second Fausch family in
Michigan City. This is what I have on the
Goshen Fausches:
MINNIE FAUSCH - born circa 1806 in
Prussia. She appears in the 1880 census with the family of her daughter
Amelia. She is apparently the mother of the following individuals.
AUGUST W. FAUSCH - Born Feb. 4, 1836 in "Germany". Arrived in the states around Jun. 1, 1866, filed his Declaration of Intent in
La Porte County on October 2, 1866, and on Oct 22, 1866 married Rosalie Warnako in a civil ceremony in
LaPorte County. Rosalie was born about September 23, 1850 and would have been 16 at the time of the marriage. What may have been their first child, Carl, was born Nov. 27, 1867 and baptised Dec 25, 1867 in St. John's Lutheran Church in
Michigan City, IN. Carl died five years later and is buried in Oakridge Cemetery in
Goshen. One of the baptism sponsors was (apparently) August's brother
Gotlieb. By 1880 August and his family were living in
Goshen. August was a carpenter at that time. Before 1885 he apparently was a bartender for Herman Dolka, and after 1885 owned his own saloon on the corner of Main and
Washington in
Goshen. By 1906 August was retied, and he died in 1915. His first wife, Rosalie, died in 1885, whereupon August married Catherine Wollford in
Elkhart County in 1877. Catherine died in 1888 and August remarried once again, this time to Wilhelmina
Blender in 1889.
GOTLIEB CARL FAUSCH - Gotlieb was born about Sep 12, 1843. He married Mathilda Fiedeke in
Elkhart County in 1871. Gotlieb died in 1919 and Mathilda died in 1920.
FRIEDRICH FAUSCH - Friedrich was born about 1845 in
Prussia. In 1870 he married Anna Shonberger in
Elkhart County. Friedrich died in 1893 and Anna died in 1927.
AMELIA FAUSCH - Amelia was born about 1846 in "Germany." She apparently married her husband William Montine while in Germany probably before 1866. They had two children born in Germany,
Gotlieb (circa 1866) and Huldah (circa 1869). Sometime around 1870 they came to the states, and apparently settled in
Illinois where they had three more children before moving to Elkhart sometime between 1877-1880.
Some information on these Fausches as well as my own in the
Michigan City area can be found at:
