He died 23 SEP 1890 in Ferdinand and is buried in St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery. I would love to locate an obituary for him so I can determine his parentage.
Nonda, I just saw your old response on the web about John riley Conner. I am a descendant of him through his son Amos! George was his younger brother. I have the 1850,1860,1870 and 1880 censuses. In the 1880 census, George was listed as 21 and was still at home with his mother, Clarey Berry (Bury) in Johnson Township, Oregon County, Missouri , his sister Nancy 27, brother Lewis 25 and sister martha 23. They lived next to Amos' brother, James KP Conner. I am having trouble finding John Riley's parents. I did find his marriage in Dec. 7 1846 to Clara Berry (Bury) and he died in 1861 in the civil war in the 49th Infantry regiment.
Michele Rollins

Was Alfred E. Chattin, a brother to Wm. Sherman Chattin? If so, my family records indicate that Alfred died at age 69; on 9-29-1947 and had been living in Jasper, IN. The wife's name was Nora with a son, Roy. I don't have much info but maybe you could get an obit from 1947 microfilms of Jasper area newspaper?

hello,
i am a descendant of Nicholas Helt. i believe that he was the father of your Elizabeth Helt. i have him in ky as early as 1802. he died in 1815. i think that samuel helt/hilt (i have found it spelled both ways on documents) was her brother. he was named as guardian of sally helt when nicholas's wife, (prob. #2) jane erwin/irvin, died in 1818. my line continues after samuel with james nicholas, charles, harry, roy, ken and then myself.
the family that stayed in ky generally spelled it Helt and the ones that went to southern indiana went with Hilt.
i only have the md record of elizabeth's christening. other than that i don't have info on her but i would love to have some. let me know if you need anything else.

I am looking for information on the Glaser's. Specifically, I am interested in finding more info on Franz Glaser who immigrated to America from Jetzles, Austria in the late 1890's. (Other papers have his family as being listed in Bavaria). The name of his wife is unknown. One of his sons Charles, was a young boy when his parent came to America. According to verbal family history, Charles was between 8 and 10 years old at the time.

Supposedly, the family went first to WI then headed to Nebraska. Supposedly
Charles Glaser met and married Anna Bernt in Spalding, Nebraska.

One of Charles Glaser's sons was Louis Glaser. Louis married Alice Marie Davis of Spalding, NE. They had six children: Robert Louis, Eleanor Marie, Charles Vernon, Thomas Paul, James William, John.

If you think that you may be able to help us in this search, PLEASE contact me via the message boards OR at my personal address:
Candyce.Williams.Glaser@integrity.com

Barbara Kaiss Hatter Mehling (1816-1899) - Ancestors & descendants

Searching for the ancestors and descendants of Barbara Kaiss Hatter Mehling ( 1816, Bavaria - 1899, Indiana). She is my GGG Grandmother.

Barbara had a daughter Maria Katherine Hatter (Härter?) born Sept 1843 in Dubois County, Indiana. The father was John Hatter. I don't have any other information (birth, marriage, death records) on John Hatter. Maria Katherine married Clemens Schell in Jan 1863. After Clemens' death, Maria Katherine married Andreas Ernst in Nov 1881. Maria Katherine is buried at St John Chrysostom Catholic Cemetery, New Boston IN.

On Nov 1844, Barbara married Christian Mehling (1813-1864) in Dubois County. This marriage produced 8 children. They lived in Dubois County. I have found them in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 US Census (Indiana, Dubois County).

I would like to find more information on the ancestors and descendants of Barbara.

Thanks for your assistance.

Diana E Wineinger or Simmons

Trying to obtain a newspaper account or obituary regarding the death of Diana E (Wineinger or Simmons) Hollyfield or Holyfield who died about April 22, 1887 in Montgomery County Kansas.

She was the granddaughter of John A and Catherine Wineinger of Dubois County, Indiana. Her mother was Jane (Wineinger) Simmons, wife of James Simmons of Dubois County, Indiana. Diana’s birth name shows up as both Simmons and Wineinger.

She moved to Montgomery County, Kansas in 1886, and may have lived with her aunt and uncle John T and Margery (Wineinger) Corn, formerly of Dubois County, Indiana.

She married an L V Hollyfield or Holyfield in Montgomery County Kansas, apparently about the time she became of age to receive an inheritance from her grandfather John A Wineinger’s estate. The couple apparently argued over the money, and she was shot and killed by her husband, who then committed suicide.

Her obituary or an account of her death would be much appreciated.

Charlie Tredway
