Diana E Wineinger or Simmons
Trying to obtain a newspaper account or obituary regarding the death of Diana E (Wineinger or Simmons) Hollyfield or Holyfield who died about April 22, 1887 in Montgomery County Kansas.
She was the granddaughter of John A and Catherine Wineinger of Dubois County, Indiana. Her mother was Jane (Wineinger) Simmons, wife of James Simmons of Dubois County, Indiana. Diana’s birth name shows up as both Simmons and Wineinger.
She moved to Montgomery County, Kansas in 1886, and may have lived with her aunt and uncle John T and Margery (Wineinger) Corn, formerly of Dubois County, Indiana.
She married an L V Hollyfield or Holyfield in Montgomery County Kansas, apparently about the time she became of age to receive an inheritance from her grandfather John A Wineinger’s estate. The couple apparently argued over the money, and she was shot and killed by her husband, who then committed suicide.
Her obituary or an account of her death would be much appreciated.
