I am a decentant of John Riley Conner (son - George Riley Conner, grandson William Andrew Jasper Conner) I too am searching for information on Riley Conner. I have seen on the internet that he was the son of John Conner who was the son of William Conner of Conner Prairie Farms in Hamilton County IN. I am still trying to verify this. As far as I can see, John Riley had no brothers or sisters. The Census records for Dubois County IN have not be transcribed but are scanned. It is hard to read through all of them and those before 1850 are not indexed. I will be glad to share with you. Who knows, we could be related. Nonda Conner Mitchell

Parents of John Riley Conner were John Conner & Mahala Brown. They got a marriage license in Wayne County, IN on 22 Jan 1825. In the LDS files there is extensive information on the Richard Conner/ Margaret Boyer family. Their son William had sixteen children. In William's second marriage, there was a son born in 1827. He was named John Fayette Conner.

John Riley CONNER married Clarcy Bury in Dubois County, IN. Their youngest son was George Riley CONNER. Some time between 1861 (I think that this is the year that John Riley Died) and 1880, Clara and the kids (at least 4 of the 6 kids) moved to Oregon County, MO. George Riley CONNER married Minnie ANDERSON on October 27th, 1881 and they had 3 children: Harley b. March 1882, Clara Elizabeth b. 8/28/1884, and William Andrew Jasper b. 5/29/1889 (my great grandfather) Jasper married Rena Belle GOUCHER on November 12th, 1910. They had 5 children: Goldia b. 10/17/1911, Alvin Glenn b. 9/24/1913 (my grandfather), Claude (called G.R. after George Riley) b. 1/31/1918, Alfred (Jim) b. 3/14/1923, and June b. 5/30/1931. Alvin Glen married Goldie S. Harvill on 1/30/1935. Their 3rd child was Billy Jasper CONNER b. May 8th, 1940 (my father).

Stories have been pasted down about our ancestors, but just like rumor, the more it was repeated, the more it changed. I have really enjoyed researching my family and have a lot more work to do. Any information you could pass down my way would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking for a place around Memphis, TN to look at the LDS files but havent found it yet.

Are you related to this line in any way? It was a pleasure to meet you. Nonda

The LDS is an easy way to say Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints. In Memphis they have six locations. One has the phone number (901) 358-6161. Call and get their library location. They are very generous and helpful with their data and the use of their computers. I am not closely related to John Riley Conner. Attached is my computer record on him.
Some of these message boards only handle certain kinds of files. It will not accept text. Send me your e-mail address and I will send you my computer record on John Riley Conner.

Nonda, I just saw your old response on the web about John riley Conner. I am a descendant of him through his son Amos! George was his younger brother. I have the 1850,1860,1870 and 1880 censuses. In the 1880 census, George was listed as 21 and was still at home with his mother, Clarey Berry (Bury) in Johnson Township, Oregon County, Missouri , his sister Nancy 27, brother Lewis 25 and sister martha 23. They lived next to Amos' brother, James KP Conner. I am having trouble finding John Riley's parents. I did find his marriage in Dec. 7 1846 to Clara Berry (Bury) and he died in 1861 in the civil war in the 49th Infantry regiment.
