Searching for the siblings of Mathew Rankin SMITH b. 1809 Washington Co., PA & Esther Ann CARTER who married in Muskingum Co., OH in 1832. They raised their family of 14 children in Wheeling, Delaware Co., IN. We believe Mathew's parents to be William & Catherine SMITH. I have discovered some other SMITH family groupings from Delaware Co. in the same time frame, and wondering if anyone is researching these lines? Possibly there is a connection to our line. Abram Smith (Nancy Childs)is said to be son of Wm & Elizabeth (Reel) Smith of Franklin Co., VA per NSDAR apps from two sisters, Lenora and Mae Smith, daus of James H. Smith who ended up in KS. But there are no proofs attached to their member apps and I have found no proof that Wm of Franklin Co. VA was the father of Abram in a quick survey of the records. There may be a will for Wm in Franklin that provides proof--I haven't checked that. Abram's will is now on-line and indicates George W. Smith was his stepson. Good luck with the Smith research.
