I have questions regarding Stephen's parentage. Looking at Stephen and Elizabeth Barnett's census records, they indicate Stephen's birth year being around 1832-1833. Stephan Barnett is found in the Floyd County, Indiana census record as being 18, with a birth year of 1832 (living with a John Emmons family). Stephan's age would be consistent with Elizabeth's age and the two of them getting married in Floyd County, Indiana in 1852. Many have Stephan's birth year as 1837, which means Stephan was 14 and Elizabeth was 18 when they married. This conflicts with all the census records.

Records indicate that Alexander and Sarah Jane Stroud were married in Crawford County, Indiana on April 23, 1834.

Is there any possibility that Alexander or Sarah Jane had a previous marriage? Does anyone have any info that might clarify Stephen Barnett's parents?
