Nancy was John's first wife. She was born in (I believe) Indiana ca 1827 and died ca 1852. They had three children - Sarah A Case b. 1849; William Bird Case b. Sep 1852; Nancy J Case - data unknown.

John married a second time to Mary Ann Miller on 25 Dec 1852 in Harrison Co, Indiana - they had 7 children - Theodore E b Sep 1857; Joseph A b ca 1865; Clara b 31 May 1860; Martha Ellen b 13 Apr 1857; Elizabeth b 7 Nov 1872; Medora Case b ca 1862 and Joannah M b ca 1856

I am trying to find parent of John Case - can't find him in census prior to 1860 and parents of Nancy Jane Bird.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Beverly

Beverly,

This may be your John & Nancy Case in 1850:

1850 District 45, Harrison Co., Indiana
Enumeration Date: October 11, 1850
Page: 351
Line: 24
Dwelling/Family: 988/988

Case, John - age 31, farmer, born in IN
" Nancy - age 23, born in IN
" Rovila A. - age 1, born in IN
Bird, Mary - age 20, born in IN

It could prove difficult to locate John Case or Nancy Bird in their parents household prior to 1850, because the head of household was the only one listed by name on the US Census. Other occupants were listed as male/female in their specific age groups.

I hope this helps.............................Karen

Thank you so much.

That might be it. At least it's a lead I can follow-up on.

I show the only child born prior to 1850 was a Sarah A Case but with the hand-writing during that time, it could actuall be Rovila A.

Thank you again.
