Classification: Biography
Surnames: Deen, Dorrington, Johnson, Wiseman, Fullenwider,
This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

HENRY H. DEEN, M. D. Throughout Southern Indiana Dr. Henry H. Deen, a veteran of the World war, is accounted a man of sterling character, an earnest citizen, and one of the ablest of medical practitioners in Crawford County. Doctor Deen has been established at Leavenworth, Indiana, for a number of years and commands universal public confidence in Henry H. Deen was born March 29, 1876, Perry County, Indiana, as were his parents, Richard W. and Sarah E. (Dorrington) Deen. His father, now verging on his eighty-fifth birthday, has resided on the same farm for fifty-seven years. Of Doctor Deen’s brothers and sisters who survived infancy, two sisters are living: Ida, who remains with her aged father, and Christine, who is the wife of H. E. Johnson. Thirza, deceased, was the wife of O. N. Wiseman. Doctor Deen attended the public schools in boyhood and later the State Normal School at Danville, after which for about ten years he devoted himself to teaching. During this interim he led a studious life himself as well as instructed others, and thus prepared for medical college. In this choice of a career his maternal grandfather, Doctor Dorrington, long a leading physician in Perry County, a native of Ireland, and a graduate of Dublin University, encouraged him. Finally Doctor Deen was graduated from the medical department of Louisville University, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. In 1911 he took a course in post-graduate work in the New York Polyclinic, and in 1919 attended the Post-Graduate School of Medicine at Chicago. In June, 1918, Doctor Deen enlisted for service in the World war as a lieutenant in the Medical Corps, serving first at Camp Mabry, Texas, and later took charge of Seaton Infirmary at Austin, Texas. At the close of the war he was sent to Alva, Oklahoma, and was demobilized there January 5, 1919. He is now a major in rank in the Medical Reserve Corps. On June 30, 1907, Doctor Deen was married to Miss Ottie E. Fullenwider, and they are very pleasantly situated at Leavenworth, members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and both deeply interested in civic welfare. Doctor Deen is a York Rite Mason and a Shriner, a member of the Crawford County, the Indiana State and the American Medical Associations, and belongs to Post No. 62, American Legion, at Leavenworth, which he was instrumental in organizing.
