I recognize your name from the books you have compiled on
Boone County,
Indiana. I'm trying to make a connection to
Preston Wiley (1871-1892) whose name I found on a list of people buried at Mud
Creek. I think he MIGHT be the sone of my gg-grandparents, Samuel W. and Elizabeth M. (McAnulty)
Wiley. I show his birth name as
Otis P. Wiley in 1871 but have no information on his death. The dates on the list of people buried there could be him. I think there's a good possibility he might be their child because
Preston is a name frequently used in the
Wiley family.
My mother and I visited the cemetery about 4 years ago when we came to
Boone,
Cass and
Carroll counties to do
Wiley research. We could not find a marker for Samuel W. Wiley (died 1887), but we think a tall marker with the name Elizabeth (barely recognizable) not far from the cemetery gate, might be her (died 1913).
At that time we spoke with Mark
Wiley who lived in the log house next to the cemetery. He helped us look for their graves. At that time I did not know anything about
Otis P. I tried to e-mail Mark with the address I had from back then but it came back to me.
If you are not able to answer this question, could you please refer me to someone who might have access to the cemetery records. I hope the records show who
Otis P(reston)'s parents were.
Any information you can provide will be truly appreciated. Thank you.
