Drowned in Lick Creek
Charles M. M. Ervin, son of Geo. W. Ervin, aged seven years eight months and one day, was drowned in Lick Creek east of town on Saturday evening last. The lad was playing with other boys and by accident fell into the creek. The alarm was given in the evening and a diligent search was kept up until Sunday evening, when the body of the boy was discovered about two miles below where he fell in. The verdict of the cororner jury was accidental drowning. The deceased was buried on Monday afternoon after appropriate funeral services at M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. J. W. Lowry. The friends of the deceased have the sympathy of the entire community, in their sad bereavement. Charlie was an interesting intelligent child and will be greatly missed by his parent and friends.
