Because of her Father's premature death, the family moved to Los Angeles,in 1948 where Rose was enrolled in Marlborough High School. After her graduation in 1952, she matriculated to Stanford University and graduated in 1956. Returning to Los Angeles, she worked for the Architects and Engineers company, Victor Gruen & Associates and Tetley Fawcett. While she was developing her professional skills, she volunteered with the Junior League of Los Angeles and the Spinsters, and became President. Accepting a promotion in management, Rose moved to San Francisco in 1972 with Tetley Fawcett and again continued with community involvements, including the Junior League of San Francisco, the Edgewood Center for Children and Families, the San Francisco Fine Arts Auxiliary, where she chaired the very important event, Bouquets to Art. Later on, she became involved with The Heritage House, where she served on the Board. Her schools, Marlborough and Stanford, were a special focus of her time and giving spirit. Her personal interests varied from needlepoint, to watercolor, to tennis, to bridge, to travel. In her later years her focus was her charities, her clubs, her friends and most important was the love of her family. She is survived by her sister, Laurie La Shelle, her brother-in-law Bob Kerslake, (Los Angeles), and Laurie's three children, Scott, Christopher and Ashley and nine grandchildren. Equally important has been her cousin Peter Hall and his wife, Alice. The family is especially grateful to her three caregivers who have enriched her life in the last six years: Ursula McGrath, Alma Kelly and Claire Tracey. Rose has asked to be remembered by her favorite organizations: Marlborough School, 250 Rossmore Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90004, Stanford University and the de Young Museum. We will celebrate Rose's life @ St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Bush St. at Steiner, SF @ 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 3 with a reception to follow.

Published in San Francisco Chronicle on February 28, 2011

Well maintained. Not in use. The church book can be found at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Monroeville, IN. IN DNR Latitude 40.9475 Longitude 84.8242.

Also my Great great grandfather was Frederick Beerman born in 1799. You have him on your Beerman family tree along with his parents. You show him being married to Christine who we believe was to young to be Henrich's mother (13) so we were not sure from the ship records if Henrich's father was even Frederick, since he was listed above with his wife and son. Can you confirm that he had a son born in 1830 Henrich, as my great grandfather is Henry who you do not have listed. He is the youngest child and listed as baby on the ship. Born Feb 28th 1853. Some of his sons were William Henry Charles (Guy) my grandfather. Thanks for all your research. Paulette Beerman Rauner 615-819-0990

There were several marriages performed Rev. Charles W. Houser in the early 1940's. I looked through some of the marriage applications on the Allen Genealogy Society site. These applications show when the application was made and when the marriage was performed. I found several where the applications was made and the marriage performed on the same day.

My parents were married about the same time. While they were married by the minister from my father's church, they were married in the Chapel at the Fort Wayne YMCA. There is a long story on the "Why", the point being that it is possible that Rev Houser was a young minister also living in near the court house in Fort Wayne and was available to marry them.

Could anyone tell me if there was a waiting period for marriages in 1941? For some reason, my aunt married her husband in Fort Wayne on 31 May 1941. Both of them were living in Detroit, Michigan at the time as far as I know and that is what they listed on the marriage license application. I thought that he may have been in the service but the license shows that his current occupation is painting contractor.

Also, is there anyone who could tell me what kind of minister the Rev. Charles W. (?) Houser or Hauser was?

Thanks.

I need some help finding information on the marriage of Grace M. POTTS, b. 31 Dec 1891 or '92, to a man named HENDERSON. The marriage had to have been somewhere between 1905 & 1914 because she was married a second time on 8 Dec 1914 & that marriage record states she was divorced by then. I can not find any record of her first marriage or subsequent divorce other than what is given in the 2nd record. Help!

Thanks,
Dennis.

Hello - I am searching for information on Edith L. Saunders, wife of Fred Beardsley. Edith and Fred were married in Cadillac, Michigan in 1887; however their daughter, Hazel was born in 1889 in Fort Wayne. I am hoping to find Edith's family, perhaps in Indiana. Edith's middle name may be Leola or Leota.

Thank you in advance - Sue

There are several George Washington Allen's so don't know if this is the one you are searching for. He was captured by the North during the Civil War after enlisting in 1861.

Jacob Paff and Aaron Paff were my great grandpa's. I have them posted on find a grave. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52... Aaron and his wife Mary Ann are in the Old Leo Cemetery and we presume that Jacob and Susannah are there too. There isn't a record for their burials with the historical society or with the sexton, but there are 4 plots.

Aaron Paff's biography is in the "Valley of the Upper Maumee" and he is listed as an early settler of Cedar Creek Township in, "The Pictorial History of Fort Wayne, Indiana". They are on the 1850 Agriculture Schedule http://www.acgsi.org/1850agri/p.php Aaron is on the 1860 Agriculture Schedule. http://www.acgsi.org/1860agri/p.php

Yes, the 1860 Platt map has their land. It is on the south east side of Cedarville across the river. Jacob and Aaron's were two parcel's next to each other with Aaron owning them both by the 1860 Plat. http://www.acgsi.org/maps/1860plat/p.php The 1880 Platt has listed Aaron, George Washington, Moses, and A., possibly Andrew, or more land owned by Aaron. http://www.acgsi.org/maps/cedarcreek.1878.pdf If you look on an satellite aerial map of the area, you can still see the land lines.

1850 plat has the property listed under Jacob Schwartz.
http://ia600701.us.archive.org/3/items/standardatlasofa00geo...

The Paff's were immigrants and came from Pennsylvania according to Aaron's bio. Jacob and Susannah were married before they came to Indiana, and so were Aaron and Mary Ann.

"Aaron Paff, lately deceased, one of the old settlers of Cedar Creek township, was born January 17, 1816,
in Pennsylvania, where he grew to manhood. In his nineteenth year he accompanied his parents, Jacob and Susan (Stinger) Paff, to Ohio, whence after a residence of about seven years, he removed to Indiana and settled on the farm where he now lives, which was then a forest. In 1838, he was united in marriage with Mary A. Reater, and this union was blessed with eleven children, of whom seven are now living: Moses, born November 21, 1839; Susanna, born May 11, 1845; George W., born Dec 10, 1948; Mary, born November 27, 1851; Harriet, born March 6, 1856; Andrew J., born January 17, 1858; and Daniel E., born January 1, 1861. Mrs. Paff was born August 31, 1817, and died March 28, 1888. She was a member of the Baptist church before coming to Indiana, and he was a member of the Presbyterian church, but afterward they both united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which he was a class leader about twenty years, and was one of the trustees the same period. His first experiences in Allen County were attended with much struggle and privation, as he began without capital, but by hard work and skillful management he prospered, and owned at his death 120 acres of fertile land, and earned the good will of all who knew him. This worthy citizen passed away in August 1889." [ p.338 "Valley of the Upper Maumee"]

[page 662, "The Pictorial History of Fort Wayne, Indiana"] "Settlers came thick and fast from 1836 on. .... Between 1837 and 1840, among the settlers, permanent for the greater number, who made their appearance were Aaron Paff, who married, in 1838, Miss Mary A. Reater, who, the old chronicle states, was a Baptist, while her husband was a Presbyterian. Happily these differences were abrogated in a coming manner, both of the worthy pair uniting with the Methodist Episcopal Church, in which communion they devoutly reared their eleven children."

On, my visit to the area a couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to run into the sexton of the cemetery. He informed me there was still and old man Paff in the area, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to make a connection.

What child are you through?

Cindy

I am trying to find out about heinrich and sophie kramer (a has an umlaut). The is a pair matching these two names from Bohlscheiben Saalfeld-Rudostadt that were sponsors for the christianing of Albert Kramer whose mother was Henriette. This would have been in 1846. There is a record for a heinrich emigrating from Germany in 1860 (no mention of sophie) heinrich is listed as a master carpenter. Do not know if this could be any relation. Henriette and Albert came to sheboygan wisconsin in 1851.

Arnold Meadows (b.1919 Summers County, WV) s/o

John Meadows (b.1881 Summers County, WV) and Mary (Wickline?) Ballengee. John was s/o

Peter Martin Meadows Sr (b. 1849 Monroe County, VA). Peter was s/o

James W Meadows (b. 1822 Monroe County, VA). James W Meadows was s/o

Francis Meadows, III (b. 1799 Rockingham County, VA). Francis, III was s/o

Francis Meadows, Jr (b. 1754 Orange County, VA(?)) and Frances Bush (b. 1774 Culpeper County, VA (?) d. 1853 Monroe County, VA).

Francis, III is believed to be brother of Abraham Meadows (B. 1808 Monroe County, VA died 1869 Greenup County, KY). We now have several matching Y-DNA samples from persons believed to be descendants of Francis Meadows, Jr. My genealogy software gives Arnold and myself a 4th cousin relationship if the paper trail is correct. I grew up and still live in Greenup County, KY therefore I have not personally met any of cousins living outside Greenup County. The internet has made it possible to exchange information and compare notes with many.

Hi Cindy. I believe we are 3rd cousins. Johanna is also my gr gr grandmother. Her daughter Alvina & Christian Reinkensmeier are my gr grands. I changed the spelling to "Reffeld" because of the spelling of Johanna's father's name on the Nachkommen Goertemoeller aus Kalkriese family tree. Their info is from a relative in Bramsche who did the research and published as "Kirchenbücher im Kirchspiel Bramsche". Author: Udo Niemann. Before that I had "Reffett" from a death certificate. It seems "Reffelt" is preferred? Hope you will contact me: danenmary@hotmail.com. Mary

My Schlemmer ancestors lived at the corner of Lortie and Hoagland Roads in Monroe Twp. near Monroeville after 1839. On the 1860 plat map I just saw that there was a Church "L C H" near them at the SE corner of Hoagland and Morgan Roads. Anyone know the name, Church Records, etc? They did not attend the other churches in the area. Aloha and Mahalo from Hawaii.
