Surnames: Bowers, Davis, Hauthorn, Bugert,
This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

LEIGHTON BOWERS has made a very favorable name and reputation for himself in the field of architecture. He is practicing in his native City of Fort Wayne, with offices at his residence studio. Mr. Bowers grew up at Fort Wayne, and after the high school had to depend on his own exertions and followed his own guidance and ambition in the matter of a choice of a profession and in qualifying himself for its practice. Mr. Bowers was born in Fort Wayne, February 19, 1894, son of J. W. and Nora (Davis) Bowers. Both families were early settlers in Allen County, Indiana. His grandfather, Adam A. Bowers, was born in Ohio, April 15, 1886, and died in 1906. He married Molly Hauthorn, who died in 1928. Adam Bowers was an early settler in Madison Township of Allen County. He served all through the Civil war as a Union soldier, enlisting as a private in the Eighty-eighth Volunteer Infantry and coming out with the rank of second lieutenant. He was at Gettysburg and many other great battles of the Civil war. His occupation was that of a farmer. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Mr. Bowers’ maternal grandfather, Henry Davis, was an early settler in the farming community of Wayne Township, Allen County, and was a very devout Methodist. His widow, Adaline Davis, is now ninety-five years of age. J. W. Bowers was born in Madison Township, Allen County, April 2, 1871, and his wife was born August 7, 1871. He attended public schools and for a number of years was in business as a painter and decorator, at Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He died in April, 1929. His wife died March 20, 1928, leaving a family of three children. Leighton Bowers attended school at Fort Wayne, including the Central High School, and since leaving school he has steadily devoted his time and energies to the development of his talents and inclination for architecture. The chief interruption to his work in that line came during the World war, when he enlisted and on July 25, 1918, was called to the colors and remained in training until January 14, 1919. He is a member of the Indiana Society of Architects and the Registered Professional Engineers, and is a registered architect. He has designed many of Fort Wayne’s outstanding buildings, including schools, among which is the new Oxford grade school, the City School Administration Building and the Central High School gymnasium. He has also designed churches, office buildings and residences in and out of Fort Wayne. Among the buildings he has designed is the Western Gas Construction Company’s office building and the Northern Indiana Public Service Building.
