MABLE F. BEVINGTON

MABLE F. BEVINGTON, 93, of Saint Joe, Ind., died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. Born Oct. 3, 1918 in Adams County, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Opal Marie (Ray) Bevington.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Betty Bevington of Saint Joe, Ind.; nephew, Stephen (Jackie) Bevington of Saint Joe, Ind.; nieces, Cindy (Mike) Stauffer of Fort Wayne, Laura (Jim) Beckman of Petersburg, Ky.; four great-nephews and nieces; one great-great-nephew; and lifelong best friend, Imogene Mavis of Auburn, Ind.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest "Red" Bevington on July 3, 1994 and two great-nephews.

She graduated from South Side High School and Manchester College with a Teaching Degree. She started teaching Elementary Education and English in the Akron School District in Akron, Ind. Later she started the Art Department at that school district and became an art teacher. She also taught at Waterloo High School, which became DeKalb Central, which she retired from.

She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in St. Joe, Ind., Delta Kappa Gamma - DeKalb County Chapter, Retired Teacher's Association, DeKalb Fine Arts Commission, and the DeKalb Memorial Hospital Auxillary. She also helped for several years with the St. Joe Lions Club Fair Booth.

Service is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday Oct. 19, 2011 with calling one hour prior at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Saint Joe, Ind. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville, Ind. Pastor Merle Holden will officiate. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
