Joseph H. Rousseau dies early today

Joseph H. Rousseau, Sr., 53, of 324 Marshall street, died at 12:30 a.m. today at the Veterans hospital in Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient for the past seven months. Death was attributed to an apparent brain tumor.

Born in Massachusetts Jan. 4, 1914, he was a son of Joseph and Bridgette Hoban-Rousseau, and had resided in Decatur for the past 21 years. He was married to Mary Schultz Dec. 15, 1945.
Mr. Rousseau was employed as a pipefitter with the Lima Fire Protection Co. of Lima, O., and was a veteran of World War 11, serving with the Army Air Force.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church, the Holy Name society, and Adams Post 43, American Legion.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joseph H. Rousseau, Jr., with the Ari Force at Bunker Hill, Zeno W. and John A. Rousseau, both at home; nine daughters, Mrs. Sam (Romona) Tullis of Markle, Mrs. Dianne Beltz and Miss Patricia Rousseau, both of Fort Wayne, Julie L., and Joan K., Bridgette C., Theresa R., Celia R., and Ann S. Rousseau, all at home; four brothers, Edward, Frank and Albert Rousseau, all of Pennsylvania, and Leon Rousseau of Florida; two half-brothers, Raymond Havronich and Lawrence Havronich, both of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Nellie and Mrs. Rose Myers, both of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Helen Moran of Florida; and nine grandchildren. One sister is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Friends may call at the Gillig-Doan & Sefton funeral home after 11 a.m. Thursday until time of the services. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. (Oct. 25, 1967)
