Ray Nevil, 80, 917 W. Main St., Portland, died Tuesday afternoon at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Dunkirk, following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 20, 1911, in Adams County, he was the son of John J. and Jane (Derrickson) Nevil. He was married June 10, 1939, to Virginia Galloway, who survives.
Nevil worked for the Penn-Central Railroad for 42 years retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Ridgeville Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Connie Andrews, Muncie, one sister, Pearl Lewis, Geneva; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are set for 1 pm Friday in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with Rev. Wilbur Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery in Berne.
Memorials may be made to the Jay County Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Support Group.
