WILLIAM NUSSBAUM PASSES AT BERNE

William Nussbaum, 76, prominent retired farmer who resided at 66 West Van Buren street in Berne, passed away suddenly Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock after suffering a heart attack . He had been in failing health since February 15.

He was born in Monroe Township December 17, 1873, the son of the late John P. and Virginia Mazelin Nusbaum [sic], and he spent his entire life in that community. He was united in marriage to Miss Adelina Stauffer, also of that community, September 25, 1898. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in September, 1948. Survivors are the widow; two sons, Clifton of Berne and Howard of Monroe Township; three daughters: Mrs. William Spurgeon of near Berne; Mrs. John Hindenlang of near Decatur, and Mrs. Howard Von Gunten of Fort Wayne; three brothers: Levi, an invalid at the Berne Nursing Home; John, San Diego, Calif., and Sam of Berne; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Wyss, of Berne. There are also seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Nussbaum was a member of the First Mennonite church where funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. O. A. Krehbiel, officiating. Burial will be in the M.R.E. cemetery. The body which had been taken to the Yager Mortuary was returned to the home Sunday morning.
