ELLEN NUSSBAUM RITES THURSDAY
Mrs. Ellen (Baumgartner) Nussbaum, 78, native and lifelong resident of Berne community passed away at her home at 424 Center Street in Berne, Monday afternoon at 1:02 o'clock. She had been in failing health for some time and was bedfast the past four weeks. Death was caused by arterio-sclerosis and complications.
Mrs. Nussbaum was born May 17, 1872, in Monroe township, the daughter of Abraham and Caroline Ellenberger Baumgartner. Her marriage to John Nussbaum took place at the local Mennonite church August 16, 1891. He preceded her in death in 1910. They resided on a farm northeast of Berne and for many years she continued to live there with her family. The children who survived their mother are: Frank, Berne; Fred, Monroe rural route; Edwin, near Berne; Wilbur B., Berne; Benhart, Berne; Albert, Monroe rural route; Victor, Berne; Rev. John, Cincinnati, Ohio; Hiram, Berne; Mrs. Florenz Stucky, near Berne; Mrs. Everett Reynolds, Elkhart; Mrs. Frank Burke, and Mrs. Vernal Ellenberger, both of Berne. Other survivors are 55 grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam Baumgartner, Wabash township; three sisters: Mrs. Levi Sprunger, Mrs. Noah Augsburger and Miss Emma Baumgartner, all of Berne. Besides the husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, one son, Wesley, in 1927, and daughter at 2 years of age.
Mrs. Nussbaum was a member of the First Mennonite Church at Berne, where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock
