My3rd great-grandmother Mattie (Smith), later Batchelder, served as a school teacher in Will County (Wilmington, Joliet or Florence?) in the early 1870s before moving to Nevada. I have a letter written by her to her future husband in 1873 describing the school, teachers and the area in which she is working. Is there any available information on teachers for that area and time period? Any help would be much appreciated!
