Seeking Marriage info on wedding of Clarence Verner Mundy and Gertrude Ascenith Newkirk - presumably 14 Jan 1903 in Mount Carmel, IL.
They moved to Colorado soon after their marriage.
The Board for Illinois appears to only cover marriages prior to 1900, which leaves my grandparents out of the loop.
Help, please?

My family is related to Olive Leach-Mundy. I will try to look up info for you at the Wabash County courthouse on my next visit. Marriage for Mundy/Newkirk 1-14-1903.

In Marriage Record Book 1 Pg 284 of Wabash Co., IL I found Gertrude Newkirk wed C. Mundy. Mr. Mundy was age 25, white, and born in Wabash County-but living in Patoka, Indiana. His parents were W H & Carrie (Best) Mundy. This was a first marriage for the groom.
Gertrude was age 23, white, and born in Wabash County. Her parents were R M & Martha (Hallock) Newkirk. This was a first marriage for the bride.

The couple was united in marriage on January 14, 1903, by
R H Carr, Minister of the Gospel. The witnesses were Bertha Mundy and Amy Newkirk.

MRCJMLEACH - Thank you so much for the information. This is a very needed "brick" to finish this portion of my family wall.
I knew the story behind the wedding, but did not know whether or not C. Mundy (Clarence Verner - my granddad) obtained their marriage license in El Paso County, Eastonville, Colorado (where he was boarding and working on his Uncle 'Doc' Eli Knowles farm) before returning to his childhood location to marry Gertrude Newkirk; or whether they bought the license and were married there in Mt. Carmel. You've saved me hours of fruitless work, and I deeply appreciate your taking time to reply.
You did know that Gene Mundy (the one who was son to Olive Leach and E. Guy Mundy) passed away quite recently, didn't you? I don't know how much our lines will cross since this info was shared, but if I can help you in any way, let me know.
Niona (Mundy) Case.

I wasn't aware that Gene Mundy had passed away. I lost track of him in Dallas, Texas. I have information on his William and Robert but not much on Gene. Thanks for the info.
