The deceased was the daughter of James and Sarah
Miller (Voughn)
Campbell who were united in marriage in
North Carolina in 1810. She was one of thirteen children, six girls and seven boys all of whom are dead, except Sarah R. Snyder, widow of Solomon R. Snyder, deceased, of
Monroe City, John
Campbell of Portland,
Oregon, and Thomas B. Campbell of
Cornelius,
Oregon. The deceased was born August 6th, 1822 and was united in marriage to David
Beauchamp about 1849 and commenced housekeeping near Mt. Carmel, Ill. and has ever since lived there. To this union were born three children, two of whom, John and George, are still living.
About 1845? her husband died and in 1848 she was remarried to Isaac
PARMENTER, an old soldier of 1812, who died in 1870, at the age of 80 some odd years. To this last union were born four children, two boys and two girls, two of whom, Maria
Middleton and Allen
PARMENTER, are still living.
The deceased at the age of seventeen united with the M.E. church, and was a constant member and attendant at this church until she married her last husband who was a member of the Christian church, when she went with her husband into the church of his choice.
She has always been a kind wife, a fond and loving mother and a good friend. There is no doubt about her christian life for on her death bed she would keep saying, "I am going home to Jesus, to die no more."
The deceased came here a few weeks ago on a visit to her sister and was taken suddenly ill from which she never recovered and died October 19, 1893. [penciled in: 71y 2m 13d].
The friends and daughter and three sons were called, and did all that earthly hands could do for a fond mother. The corpse was taken home near Mt. Carmel Thursday on the one o'clock train. The funeral was preached at the late residence of the deceased Friday at 11 o'clock by
Elder Couch of the Christian church. The interment was made at
