Looking for information about my 3rd great grandmother death record
Mr. L.L. Tice received a telegram Tuesday announcing the sad news of the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary A. Tice, which occurred at the Southern Hospital for the Insane at Anna, on Monday evening, January 31 at 5 p.m., of softening of the brain. She was 74yrs 7months, and 24days old. She was born in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, June 6 1823. She was married in October 1842 to Samuel W. Tice. They have been residents of this city since 1850, Mr. Tice being engaged in the meat business most of the time. Mrs. Tice leaves to mourn, her husband, who is confined to his bed from the effects of a fall he received on the ice a month ago, besides three children, Louis L. Tice, of this city; Mrs. Elmira Elizabeth Bonner, of California, and Samuel Henry Tice, of Mound City, South Dakota. She has been a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, and lived a consistent Christian life. About a year ago her mind became impaired, and she was sent to the hospital for treatment. She steadily grew worse until her death came to her relief, and called her to her heavenly home. The remains arrived Wednesday morning from Anna, and were taken at once to the residence of her son, L.L. Tice. The funeral was conducted by rev., Geo. J. E. Richards at 2 p.m., the procession leaving Mr. Tice's home for the Congregational Church at 1:30p.m. A large concourse of friends were in attendance, and followed the remains to their last resting place at Montrose cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many warm friends.
Thank you
