I am looking for information on Silas and Margaret Jane (Boyd) Wilson, and their family. The earliest documentation I have for this family is the 1860 census in Tazewell County, IL. Here is what I know of the family:
Silas Wilson: I estimate his date of birth to be around 1820. According to his son's death certificate, Silas was born in Canada. I have been unable to find Silas on any of the U.S. Census's, and believe he probably died between 1854 and 1860.
Margaret Jane Boyd Wilson: b. either 1822 or 1826 (depending on the source), in Ohio. The IGI has a record that states that they were married in 1843 in Dayton, Ohio. In the 1860 census, she is listed as Jane Wilson, and appears to be the head of the household. In 1910 she is living with daughter Emma (Wilson) Short and her family, and is listed as Jane Hall, widow. This is strictly speculation, but the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index does show a marriage for Obediah Hall and Jane Wilson in McLean County, IL, in 1862, but I have not yet been able to confirm whether or not this is "my" Jane Wilson.
Mary, b. 1845
Charles Alexander, b. either 1844 or 1848 (again, depending upon the source)in either IL, according to the 1860 census, or Ohio, according to his funeral card.
Caroline, b. abt. 1851. Alexander married Caroline Steinsultz in Saline County, in 1879. They eventually settle in DuQuoin, Perry County, IL. I'm told that Alexander did fight in the Civil War, but have yet to order his military records.
William E. and
Emily "Emma" A. (twins), b. abt. 1853. Emma married Mark Asbury Short (the boy next door)in Tazewell Co., and died there in 1928.
Franklin "Frank", b. abt. 1854. In 1920 Frank was living with his sister Emma and her husband Mark, and was still listed as single, so I supposed he never married.
If any of these people sound familiar to you, please contact me -- I'd be happy to exchange information.
