Looking for any information on Westons, Colliers, Newtons, Pettees and Snares living in Stark County starting in the 1860s and later. I am also interested in any information anyone might have on a Joseph Thomas and his wife Melissa (Weston). Joseph and Melissa had at least two children. The two I know of are Clara J. Thomas and Harry Thomas, both born in the late 1870s.

I have a Snare who is living in Knox County, Illinois (next door to Stark County)in the 1860 census. Most of the Snares in the Stark and Knox County areas disappear from the 1870 census and then, at least my Snare is back by the 1880 census. There are still a few Snare descendents in Stark County. I was fortunate enough to visit with some of them on a genealogy treak to Illinois this summer. I have reason to believe that the Snares migrated to Missouri and then came back to Illinois. Unfortunately, this isn't something I've had much time to research yet.

I'm interested in tying the Snare/Schneer information together. My grandfather died at 87 in 1975 and I know very little about the family before them except the 5 sons of David Schneer/Snare who ended up in PA, IL, OH, CO, and NM. I presently live in St Clair County, IL but was raised in Ohio and spent 23 years in the Air Force.

My father's name is Howard Snare and he currently resides I believe in either Illinois or Colorado. I currently live in New Mexico with my wife and my last name has changed to Ray. Possibly we may be related, my father's parents lived in Ohio and we lived in Colorado for a 4 year period when I was younger..feel free to email me with any additional questions
