Was just wondering if you were still looking into this line. This Benjamin Allen & Neoma was my 4th great-grandparents. I believe that he is the same Benjamin Allen that is buried in the Spain Cemetery, as his son, Francis Marion, and grandson, Charles are also buried there.

I have not been able to locate the maiden name of his wife, or any information on her as well. Where did you discover this marriage date?

Look forward to hearing from any other descendants of this Allen family!

It seems she is buried in Cowden, IL.

If anyone is able to get hold of this obit, I would be very grateful.

Thank you in advance,

Martin.

Re: DNA & Looking for descendants of Jacob McConnell, Somerled

DNA results between myself and a third cousin showed we are closely related with 65 out 67 markers matching. I am a descendant through Jacob's son Thomas W. McConnell and he was a descendant through Jacob's son Boseal McConnell.

Partly through DNA and partly through paper trails, I have traced Jacob McConnell's ancestry back to Alexander McConnell who died at Octorara Creek in Chester County, PA in 1729. The trail back goes like this:

1) Jacob McConnell, b. Ross Twp, Greene Co., OH 9/25/1825, d. Cold Spring Twp, Shelby Co., OH 10/11/1907.
2) John W. McConnell, b. Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA, 1798, d. Aft 1860, Cold Spring Twp, Shelby Co., OH.
3) Adam McConnell, b. Ayr Twp, Bedford Co., PA, b. Aug 1758, d. Bef 1820, Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA.
4) Robert McConnell, b. Colerain Twp, Chester Co., PA Apr 10, 1729, d. Elizabeth Twp, Allegheny Co., PA, 1813.
5) Adam McConnell, b. Dumfrieshire, Scotland Abt 1709, d. Ayr Twp, Bedford Co., PA abt 1776.
6) Alexander McConnell, b. Dumfrieshire, Scotland, abt 1673, d. Octorara Creek, Chester Co., PA May 1729.

I have matching DNA with only 3 markers difference with a descendant of Robert Mcconnell (#4 above) through his son John. I have close DNA matches with descendants who can trace their ancestry to two different sons of Alexander McConnell (#6 above): John and Alexander. There is also a close match to the DNA of two people with early North Carolina ancestors who I have not yet figured out how they are related.

Anyone interested in exchanging information can reach me at: robert@mcconnell.com.

I doubt you are still looking but if so let me know. I'm not sure what I know about Daniel but I am from his brother Henry Gollaher's line. Several of the brothers changed the spelling of their last name when they moved from Illinois, they ended in Arkansas. I have the info of where Daniel is buried in Gallaher cemetery in Shelbyville Illinois. He didn't live long, his wife and several kids are all there as well. His dad's last name was Gallagher. All those changes are what make Gollaher/Gallaher a tough name to follow.

I do not know who Joel Bunch was. I thought he was a relative of mine beings he was living with my ancestor, Joseph Moore and wife Frances (Bunch) in 1850 in Shelby Co., IL. Joel's wife has apparently died and he has six children. These Moores went on to MO. I see a Haywood Bunch in 1860 in Shelby 12years (b1848). He is with James Bunch, and Biddy Bunch. Biddy had married Israel Bunch who died. Israel was from Greene Co., IN and probably Cumberland Co., KY, probably son of Israel, Sr. I doubt that this Haywood is the brother of Joel as Joel was born 1810. When was your Haywood born? Do you know any other siblings? Julie

Ida Knight died 7 Aug 1926
John Franklin Knight died 12 Jan 1926

In 1910, Julia Knight was living with Frank and Ida so her husband had already died. I found nothing on the IL State Archive Death records database that shows anything for either John or Julie.

As for the 1920 census, they probably just got missed.

In the 1930 Shelby county census, Reatha is married to Ed Buffington and have two children - Julie and John.

As for the cemetery books, just look on the Shelby County ILGenWeb site. There should be a link to the Genealogical Society. I'm sure they have books for sale. If you don't want to purchase them, then look on the look-up page on the Shelby county site. If you can't find someone doing look-ups for the cemetery records, contact me off-list and I'll check with my local library.

Hope this helps.

Linda
lclang@consolidated.net

Does anyone have transcriptions/records from Mound Cemetery in Shelby County, Illinois? I have information that Robert J. Brown, my great-granduncle, is buried there. He was born 26 Feb 1859 and died 21 Mar 1923. I don't have the death information for three of his daughters and think that one or more may be also be buried in Mound Cemetery or elsewhere in Shelby County. They are: Maggie Brown, born 1886; Alice Brown, born about 1889 and died between 1900 and 1910; Henrietta Brown, born about 1901.

Bob Brown
rsbrownco@aol.com
They show coming from IN and Haywood was the only one born in IL. Can you tell me what info you have on Joel and his family/ parents.

thanks

Sorry, I got confused when I asked the first time. That Haywood is the one I'm looking for. I've seen the 1860 census and I figure that his brother was James, the one he's living with in 1860.(James age 22 and Haywood age 12.) I find James again in 1850 as son of Joel still in Shelby Co but Haywood is not with him. Trying to determine who Haywoods parents are but not having mush luck.

Since that previous post I have found that John Mize was married to Sarah Henderson. The 20 yr old Sarah is his NEW wife. So, something happened to Eleanor (Prutsman) after George was born.
I have been unable to find info regarding John's death/burial and Eleanor's death/burial.
Any crumbs of information will be greatly appreciated!!
Pat
pjf1946@cox.net

Are you familiar with a Rueben Roessler that moved his family of 6 children to MO after their mother dies. I'm sure he fits into your line some way. b. 1822 OH. His son Edward married Annie Biffer in 1896, in the house I currently live in Carthage MO. I have done some research and would like to send it to someone connected to these Roesslers. Let me know if you recognize them. Thanks.

As far as I can tell Katherine didn't have any information on Edward Roessler but I do and would like to share it with someone who is interested. I have not been about to find a way to contact Katherine. My only interest is how Edward relates in relation to the history of my home. I have a marriage anouncement from the Carthage Press, and other tibits from the paper, I know that Edward and Annie built a house in CA that is also on the historical register as my home is, death and birth records of their familoy, ect. I am hoping to find a decendant to pass it along to.
