I am looking for information on Rebecca (Brown)Linn. She was married in Shelby Co. to Sylvanis T. Linn. I have no idea where she was buried, I know she died in 1895. Her parents are John Harvey Brown and Polly Ann Bland. Sylvanis's parents are James Finley Linn and Mary Ann Coleman. Any information on any of these surnames is welcomed.

The John and Polly Ann Brown that you refer to,......are they the parents of a Sarah "Etta" Brown, m. to Levi Edward Bland? (Sarah, Levi, John & Polly Ann all buried in PRICE Cemetery, Shelby County, IL)? If so, I just began researching this family and would be VERY interested in exchanging information! My g-grandfather was John Henry Niece (Neice, Neece). His death certificate says that his parents were James Neice and Rebeckah (sp) Brown. They appear in the 1850 census for Shelby County, which says that this Rebeckah was born about 1806. I'm suspecting a relationship between Rebeckah and John Brown, given that his wife was a Bland, and John Niece's wife (my g-grandmother, maiden name Calhoun) was first married to a Bland, (and there was a lot of intermarriage going on between the Brown and Bland and Calhoun families).

I'm just wondering if you have any additonal info about John and Polly Brown's families that might let me link them to my ancestors too.

I am interested in your John Brown line. Could you tell me his background? My John Brown came from PA, through Ohio to Illinois and/or Indiana. Story is he and his son in law died of cholera while on a trip down the "river" and were buried together. I can't find anything else on him. His father was also a John/Johannes Braun/Brown. As I mentioned, I only suspect a link between my family and John Brown. I'm still trying to piece together how the Browns were connected to the Blands, Clarks, and Nieces. If I find any more, I'll post it. I'm assuming you have nothing else about Rebeckah and Rachel Brown or how they might be related to John Brown?

I have no idea of the children's names at all! I only know they were near Terre Haute IN but in Illinois. Many of the family did go to Shelby co ILL, not necessarily Browns, but related. I don't really have enough information to research I guess. Thanks anyway. Margaret Calvin

I don't know if you've found this yet, but Sylvanus T. Linn died in Avena Twp, Fayette Co, IL on 02-10-1942. Death cert is available on IL Statewide Death Index 1916-1950. Burial should be on death cert, and I would assume his wife would have been buried with him (but not necessarily).
