I am a descendent of Levi Long and I also have walked that cemetary and piece of ground. It was an overwhelming experience. I would have to go back in my notes, to provide accurate information but I believe Levi lived in the house that is on the property. We were shown some history of the house by the present owners who were very gracious during our visit.
What information would you like?

I'm seeking information about my great granfather's brother who supposedly moved to Chicago from Pennsylvania about 1906. The only information my great grandmother could tell me before her death was that he was a shoemaker and he made a pair of shoes for her baby (my grandmother) before he left. His first name may have been Charles and his surname is also documented as Rozecucinski,Rezucinsky and Zeczusinsky. I'm hoping the occupation of 'showmaker' might narrow the search.

I am interested in a Waugh family buried in Hennepin Cemetery 1860-1900. This is the family of John and Agnes Waugh from Pennsylvania. He ran a hotel in Hennepin in the 1850s and later had a farm. John Sr died in 1867. Are there any transcriptions for this cemetery available?
Joanna Waugh
Ontario, Canada

I think somewhere I came across a list (maybe at the Bureau Co. Genealogical Society? I can't remember) that did indeed suggest more people were interred that there currently are headstones. I don't know who every last person is, but Levi Long is the stepfather of Waitman Dunn. Mary S. Dunn is Waitman's wife. Jonathan Long is Levi Long's son and Helen Frazier Long is his wife. The whole clan originated from a part of Virginia that, I believe, is now in West Virginia. Waitman Dunn still has many descendants in the area.

Hi
I recently came upon that old cemetery while taking a walk. I was just curious about it as it looked abandoned. I wondered about the history of the people buried there.
In the meantime, I stopped at the farmhouse next to it and learned that they've straightened it up.
Wasn't looking for anything specific, I just happen to be an "old cemetery" fanatic. My old cemeteries are all in Kentucky and I don't get out there very often....so I've taken to wandering in old cemeteries here. And this one caught my fancy.
Do you know who all is interred there? There seem to be more graves than headstones.
I know in Kentucky the people were poor and couldn't afford tombstones, so they just put big field stones to mark the graves.
Thanks.

Thanks for your post. Anna Shotkus was the wife of James Miglio--listed in your post as Alla Miglio. Supposedly she was from Lithuania and married James. Adolph Miglio is listed as their son, but we have just learned that he was Anna's son, but James was not his real father, but said he was his and raised him as his own. Adolph was my mother's (Annie listed) brother. There might also be a Bureau county, IL, connection. Not sure.

I checked the 1860 US census for Wesley Noble and found him in working on a farm in Putnam County IL. If you scroll down the page, you will see a Rachel Shepard, 14 years old in the home of T.W Shepard and his wife Catherine. I found a family tree for Rachel and her parents are Thomas Wells Shepard and Catherine Ham. Since Amanda Ham is living with Rachel Noble in 1870, I think there is a pretty good chance that Rachel Noble is the Rachel Shepard listed in Putnam County in the 1860. Her age is 14 and Rachel Noble is 24 in 1870. You might try pursing this to see if you come up with anything else. Good luck.

I have been gathering info on him for several years and just discovered the IL census data. I am descendent and am looking for his ancestors and anything else I can find about him. Where did the Hervey come from? All I've been able to find is R.H. and Robertus from the census info. I have info on his wife Nancy and family. He is by family legend connected to the Adlai Stevensons, but I've not been able to confirm that.

I need some help in locating records (both vital and grave) and obits from La Salle and Putnam Counties.

My great-great-great-grandfather John Kaiser died around 1860. His death occured around the time his youngest son Clemens was born. His widow Matilda married William Bisher, who had a son by the same name. Matilda and William had a daughter named Mary. John Kaiser and Matilda had John (my great-great-grandfather), Lena, Emelia and Clemens between 1855 and 1860. I wouldn't know exactly where to find their graves. I already have records for John, Jr. but not the others. I believe Clemens lived in Oglesby, La Salle County for a time.

My great-great-great-grandparents Philip Lowenberg/Loewenberg and Elizabeth Metz lived in Granville, Putnam County. Their oldest child Elizabeth (my great-great-grandmother) was born in Tonica, La Salle County. She was married to John Kaiser Jr., and I already have her records. Perhaps the family lived in Tonica for a time. Philip's parents George and Elisabeth were born in Dreisen, Germany. They came over with their children Margaret, Catherine, Philip, Andrew and Philippine. Catherine is buried at Lostant Cemetery in Lostant, La Salle County. The others might be there as well. According to her obit (which a descendant posted online), two brothers and a sister survived her. This means that Philip died after January 15, 1901 - her date of death. Elizabeth Metz's familial background is a complete mystery to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for death date and burial place of R.H. Stephenson. He is in Granville, Putnam county, in 1865 Illinois State Census. Wife and children are in McLean county, Illinois in 1870 Federal census. He is not in McLean county burial records. So, between 1865 and 1870 he probably died in Granville.
Name sometimes spelled Stevenson.

I am an Englehaupt decendant, and I really hope I'm part of the family you are looking for. I know that my line stems out from Illinois. My grandfather was Henry Englehaupt. I'm not sure when he was born, but he died in the early 1980s, before I was born. He lived in Oregon with his wife, Rose, and I believe she was his second wife. They raised three sons (at least, there may be a fourth): William, David, and Bryan (my father, who was adopted, but I'm pretty sure there is a weird family secret that I was unable to get from my grandmother before she died, and there is no one left in my life to tell me). The fourth may be a Francis Englehaupt, for whom I have been searching for years. The family lived in Newport, Oregon. The last record of Francis that I can find is his graduation record from Newport High School.

I hope this helps, and if you know anything about Henry and Rose, or their ancestors and children, I would love to hear from you.

-Cassie
cengleh@wou.edu
I'm looking for information on the JOHN HAYS family. He was the first settler in Peru, and he died in Hennepin, supposedly. I am searching for a date of death, and any other information that is known. His daugher Jane was married to William Davis and was killed in the Indian Creek Massacre in LaSalle Co. in 1832.

Burial/Death or Marriage of Laormer West?

Laormer was living with his family in Putnam County, probably around Magnolia, in the 1870 census. He was 16 at the time. His parents were Robert and Nancy West.

He is not enumerated with them in the 1880 Illinois census.

By 1885 the whole family was living in Kansas except for Laormer.

Does SKS have access to cemetery and/or marriage records that may have something on him?

Looking for Comptons in and around Putnam County ca 1850-60

I am trying to find the father of Harry Compton b. 1857 in Illinois. His father died some time before 1870. On the 1870 census he was living in Black Hawk Iowa with his mother Julia and her husband Charles E. Smith, and a half sister Julia Smith, but it definitely says he was born in Illinois. I am not certain but I believe that this Charles E. Smith is the same one who was living in Putnam County in 1860. That is the only clue I have leading to Putnam but if anyone has any info on a possible match I'd appreciate it. Julia's (Harry's mother) maiden name would be a big help too. Thanks in advance.

Hi There. I am tracing the Grubb family too, and I believe that there is a Susanah Grubb b. 1832 in PA that is the daughter of John and Mary Grubb. This would make her the sister of Jacob, Lucy, Mary and Eliza.

The reason I believe that she is related is becuse there is a Susan Grubb marrying Joseph Regenold Jr. b. 1822, Baden Germany who is a part of my family.

Reganold, Joseph Grubb Susan 571 1849
http://genealogytrails.com/ill/putnam/genealogy/Marriage/Ind...

This would make Susan either the daughter or John Grubb or maybe a neice. I am still trying to put it all together. Unforunately, the IL marriage database doesn't seem to carry records for Putnam Co.

DYKES/ELLIOTT/WRAY Putnam Co to Livingston Co IL

Specifically, I'm needing info on a Jane Dykes?? who married a Lynd (Lynde) Elliott in 1843. Records show:
Putnam County Illinois Marriage Index
Elliott, Lynd - Dyde, Jane Date 1843 (Looks like Dyde might have been Dykes originally????)
& in another place:
Lynd Elliott and Jane D.........September 27, 1843 by Asahel Hannum (The D name must be blurred or missing????)

Also, in the 1850 Putnam Co. Census there is a Jane E. Elliott age 5 living w/Geo Dykes (age 69) and Catharine (age 64). Is this a relative of Lynd and Jane?? We have a lot of Dykes buried in Long Point Cemetery (Livingston Co IL) who could be relatives of these Putnam Co folks.

We also have Jane married to Thomas W. Wray on 12-14-1848. He is buried in Dana Cemetery in LaSalle Co IL. They had 8 children and she died on 12-23-1866. Anyone with Elliott or Dykes info for Putnam County or Livingston County IL, please respond. Thx in advance.
