I am researching my husband's ancestor, John HILL. He is in the 1860 census in Bement, Piatt Co., so I assume he is the same one who enlisted from there in the 107th IL Infantry in 1862.
However, the regimental list shows no discharge for him. It doesn't list him as a deserter, either, and he didn't die till 1892.
Is there any way of explaining this lack of information?
