Hi: found a little at Historical society:
There is no obit for Thomas
He is listed as dying May 5, 1858 and buried in Old City Cemetery.
There is a file listing the 10 children and their spouces and then a listing of 2nd wife Elizabeth Johnson Rudisill and their children and their spouces.
In the Emma Piatt History written in 1883 there is:
"Rev. Thomas H. Welch (deceased) was a native of New Jersey. He was married in Lexington, Kentucky to Eliza Jacobs, a native of Pennsylvania. They moved to Ohiio, and from there to Indiana, from which state they moved in 1839 to Piatt county, and setled on land which is still owned by the Welches. After coming to the county Mr. Welch was a preacher in the Christian church from 1839 to 1858, and his circuit extended throughout and beyond the limits of this county."
the history continues listing children and their families. Then there is a listing for Mr. John Welch, who married Elmira Carson

In the Chapman Brosthers History of Dewitt/Piatt county dated 1891 there is:
"The Hymeneal rites between Mr. Miller and Miss Rebecca J. Welch were soleminized in 1844. The bride was born in Ohio but reared in the Hoosier state, and was so carefully instructed that she developed a Christian character annd acquired the careful habits which have made her helpful at home and in society. Her father, Thomas Welch, was not able to read when he was married, but became sufficiently well informed to act as a minister and for forty years labored in that capacity in the Christian Church...."
It goes on to talk of Rebecca and Abraham Miller anad their family.
Is any of this helpful or need to be clarified. see ya lucia

Lucia,
Thank you for all the information. Does the file give when Thomas Henry Welch’s first wife, Elizabeth Jacobs, died and who gave the information on Thomas Henry for the file? Thank you.

Hi: checked today.
I do not know who typed the pages but the info concerning the Rev. and his family came from the Piatt County History by Emma Piatt 1883
There was a lady named Ann Honselman here in Monticelo (absolutely one of my heroes) who made the following note in her diary "Old Mrs. Welch died Nov. 3, 1848" I do not find a burial place.
This makes things right cause the 1850 census has him age 65 with his 2nd wife Elizabeth Johnson age 32 and 3 Johnson Kids all born in Ohio and baby Martha E. age 3 months born in Illinois.
hope this helps see ya lucia

Thank you. Ann Honselman's diary seems to be the only place that tells when Elizabeth Jacobs Welch died. Who has Ann Honselman's diary or is it published? I wonder where Elizabeth Jacobs Welch is buried.
