Newspapers in Piatt County

Does anyone know if there were any newspapers in around Cerro Gordo during the late 1800's early 1900's? I have found several mentions of my family members in the Decatur papers but have a few "very worn" articles that my grandmother had kept and would like to find an original copy that would fill in the missing pieces. I did read in one message about a paper in Cerro Gordo but cannot find anything else about it.
Thanks Pat Bowen

Thanks Lucia, I would love to visit but I live in Florida. My Grand parents were married in Piatt County I believe either Cerro Gordo or Bement. My grandmother kept the write up about the wedding but it is now very torn and parts missing and I would love to fill in the blank portions for my files. They were married 2 Oct 1895 and the article looks like it starts our "The Deahl-Bowen Nuptials" She was Maude M. Deahl and he was John I. Bowen. The wedding took place on a Wednesday evening at the home of Deahl parents 6 miles east of Cerro Gordo (would that be Bement?).
I have looked through all of the Decatur papers to no avail.
Thanks for anything you may find.

Hi I found quite a bit on the cards at the Gen Society. I do not know how much research you have done on the Bowen or Deahl families. I did not find the marriage story. There was just a notice of the couple getting their license:Piatt County Republican dated Oct 3, 1895-John I. Bowen of Cerro Gordo age 25 and Maude M. Deahl of Cerro Gordo age 17. They applied Oct 2, 1895. You can get a copy of their license from the Piatt County courthouse Book B page 142 Lic # 2385.
I would be happy to type the other info....Lots of obits including Anne E Deahl and Samuel B Deahl but do not want to overload you if you already have all the other family members.....please respond...........see ya lucia

Lucia it sounds like you did find quite a bit. I already have a copy of their marriage licence and I also have copies of Anne and Samuel Deahl's obits. You mentioned "lots" of obits other than Anne and Samuel. I have been looking for something on Robert D. Bowen (my uncle) who suppossidly died in a fire 14 Jan 1924. Another obit is for Mrs John Etnoyer (Mary Hollinger)she died 11 Jul 1908. She was my Great-Great-Grandmother. Any others on Bowen, Deahl, Etnoyer but I don't want to abuse you I really appreciat what you are doing. I do hope to get up that way sometime.
Thanks Pat Bowen

Lucia this is a lot of help. Included are a couple I could not find any information on, thanks a bunch.
There is one thing on Daniel Bowen...Wounded Civil War Vet. Do you have the entire obit for him and possibly his wife Evelyn Wells Bowen? She would be the "Mrs Daniel Bowen died 1/12/1925". They were my Great Grandparents.

Thanks for all your help.
Pat Bowen

Thanks again
