I realize this post is 10 years old...
Just based on the 1910 US census, cemetery visits, SSDI an etc:
Abraham Luepkes was born/died abt 1881-1957, Jennie born/died abt 1882-1959. They arrived from Germany in 1894. The married in about 1806. Both are buried on German Church Road in Ogle COunty at Ebenezer cemetery. Their other children, born in Ogle COunty, were Lidia (b. mar 1908), Harry A. (b. 1 June 1911, d. 26 Dec 2004, Mt. Morris IL), Richard H. (b. 24 May 1915-d. 5 Nov 2000, Hammond, LA), John A (b. 1 June 1917-d. Sept. 1983, FLorida), Jane E. (b. 1919).

I'm speculating that Abraham was a relation of my great great grandfather Harm C. Luepkes (d. 1937), but haven't gotten that far.

Hi Tom,
My maiden name is Tracy Luepkes. I believe we may share the same great grandparents. I just started the search and I will tell you what I have on my great grandparents Abe and Jennie Luepkes. He was born in Emden Germany in 1880, Jennie(Boom) was also born in Emden in 1882. I have a copy of their marriage license from Ogle County. They were married on February 10th, 1906. Abe died in 1957 and Jennie in 1959. Abe's parents were Rikkelt Luepkes(also spelled Rickert, and Rickles in the 1910 US Census) born 1850 in Germany and died 1919 in the US, Alaida Nunnenga (also spelled Alida, and Aulid in the 1910 US Census) born 1854 and died 1928. On the back of the marriage license of Abe and Jennie the witnesses are both of their fathers. It also lists their mothers names. I will give them to you as they look to me because it is all filled by hand. Abe's parents list as Rikkelt Luepkes and Alida Nannanga. Jennnie's parents are listed as Heine Boom and Aaltje VanderLunde. Spelling could be off. At the time of their marriage Abe was a farmer in Marion and was 27 years old, Jennie was 24 and lived in Rockvale. Not sure if this is who or what you're looking for but if it is, I hope it helps. My grandfather was Richard (Dick) H. Luepkes born 1915 and died 2000. If we are relatives then John and Dick would have been brothers. My father sees some of the older relatives in his travels, I have never met any of them unless I was a baby probably because we moved to Florida when I was an infant, my parent split when I was 6 and I have never met a Luepkes in my life. I am only 4 days into my searching the family tree so if it turns out that we are related, that would be awesome to know I am on the right track and happy to know my family tree has branches. Haha! Kidding. Let me know if this works out. Thanks, Tracy

Hi,
I don't know if you have already gotten the information on Abraham but he would be the nephew of Harm C. Luepkes. Harm's brother, Rikkelt, is the father of Abraham (Abe). Abraham is my great grandfather, his son Richard H. is my grandfather and my father is Richard J. Luepkes

I can't speak for everyone, of course, but my branch of the Luepkes tree is a fun bunch, and there are a lot of us, though the big generation of my grandma's has only 2 siblings left. My dad has something like 45 first cousins...

So yes, you've tapped into something big... :)

My tree is on rootsweb--it's free to see it there. It's wonderful that you have some nice informative documents. I'm a descendant of Harm C. Luepkes, Rikkelt's brother. Their father's name was Charles R. Luepkes, mother was Mary Essthof, or something like that, it was difficult to read the microfilm. I just had a baby in August and so I'm pretty busy, but I did go to the IRAD at Northern Illinois University to look at some death certificates, naturalization, etc. earlier this spring. I think most of the information has been entered and accounted for, but feel free to email me if you have specific questions and you think I can help. Ancestry also has the ship listing for Rikkelt and his family, which I've transcribed, in case you're interested. They arrived in Maryland, I think.

Thank you so much for the reply. Having never met a Luepkes in my life, it is fascinating to find out there are so many. Congratulations on the baby! If you happen to have any information on Rikkelt and Harm's parents in Germany that would be helpful and if I find any I will certainly forward it to you. I did find out that Charles is really Clauss and Mary's last name has 3 or 4 different spellings (Essthof, Esathof, Sauthoff and Sauhoff. My dad is going to Germany on business soon and will be meeting up with someone who is going to help him with translations as he searches for the German side of the Luepkes tree. I will certainly share any info he finds. Opposite of you, due to injuries from a car accident on the 4th of July, I have a lot of free time and I am really enjoying the geneology process. Once again, thank you for reply.
