Classification: Query
Surnames: Fishel Miner Minor English
William Fishel, b. abt 1839 Pennsylvania. Veteran of Civil War, Co. I, Reg't. 96, Pennsylvania Infantry. To Mercer Co., Illinois by 1870. Married there in 1873 to Sarah Miner/Minor. They had at least 4 children: Grace, b. abt 1873; Andrew Jackson, b. abt 1874; Harvey or Harry, b. abt 1877; and a baby boy b. abt 1879.

The family was residing in Aledeo, Mercer Co., IL in 1880. By 1886, the Fishels were admitted as residents at the Mercer Co., IL Almshouse. In August 1887, William entered the Soldiers and Sailors Veterans Home in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, where he died that December & buried on the grounds.

Daughter Grace filed to receive a pension from William's military service in 1890. That is the last I find of Grace.

A Jack Fishel (Andrew Jackson Fishel?) is living in the household of Robert English, 1900 Mercer Co., IL. No further records on Andrew Jackson.

I have found no information on William's wife, Sarah, or the youngest 2 sons, Harvey/Harry and the baby after 1886 at the almshouse.

I have checked all available records found in Ancestry.com & Fold 3, as well as marriages, news articles, cemeteries, etc., on other sites. Poof. They disappeared.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should look next?
