William and Martha Daugherty, there is no mention of his birth. He was My grandfather's bro. Wiley Ray Daugherty b. 1900. I have read his Obit. Also, Was Roy McCombs related to Villa R. McCombs? He m. Elzora Phelps. She was cousin of My grandmother Alta Mane Phelps who m. Wiley Daugherty. My mother was Coredith F. Daugherty Brooks. My parents lived in Normal-Bloomington area. Villa R. McCombs Daugherty, 83, of 202 W. Locust St., Apt. 300, Bloomington, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday (June 22, 1998) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, Capt. Greg Voeller officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the memorial home.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Daugherty was born Nov. 27, 1914, at Funks Grove, the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Griffin McCombs. She married James Elzia Daugherty Nov. 8, 1936, at Stanford. He survives.
Other survivors include five daughters, LaDonna Daugherty, Barbara (Bill) Craig, Kay (Joe) Babb and Vicki (Jim) Jennings, all of Bloomington; and Shirley (Jack) Henderson, Danvers; one brother, Stanley McCombs, Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The grandchildren include, Dee Jennings, Mike (Shelly) Daugherty, Mark (Shelly) Babb, Kathy Sexton, Donna Eckstein, Kim Palmer, Kelly R. Able, Cindy (Ray) Giroux, Jeff (Donna) Able, Brenda Craig, Beth (Greg) Stephens, Belle Craig, Bruce (Jeanie) Garbe and Betina Edwards.
One son, two brothers, one granddaughter, one grandson and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and attended the Salvation Army.

BLOOMINGTON - James E. Daugherty, 101, formerly of Phoenix Towers, 202 W. Locust St. Bloomington, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Normal.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington.

He was born Nov. 27, 1901, in Morgantown, KY., a son of William and Martha Felty Daugherty. He came to Illinois in 1921 to become a farmer. He married Villa R. McCombs on Nov. 8, 1936, in Funks Grove. She preceded him in death. They were married for 62 years.
Surviving are four daughters, Barbara Craig, Normal; LaDonna Daugherty, Bloomington; Kay (Joe) Babb, Bloomington; and Vicki (Jim) Jennings, Bloomington; 15 grandchildren, Mike Daugherty, Dee (Dave) Jennings, Kathy Sexton, Donna Eckstein, Mark Babb, Shelly Babb, Cindy Giroux, Kim Palmer, Kelly Williams, Jeff (Donna) Able, Bruce (Jeanie) Garvey, Belle Craig, Brenda Gilliam, Beth (Greg) Stephens and Betina Cusey; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Daugherty; one daughter, Shirley Henderson; one grandson, Greg Babb; one granddaughter, Susan Jennings; one great-granddaughter, Haliegh Daugherty; two brothers; and three sisters.
He was a retired farmer and house painter. He was a member of The Salvation Army.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Kathy, You helped me so much with information abt. James. Just wanted to know if you could find another Daugherty obit in the McLean Co. area. She is the stepmother of James. Nancy Jane Taylor Phelps Daugherty. Understand she may have lived around Funks Grove with a dau. of William Andrew Daugherty. Her stepdaughter. She may have died in early 1930's. William died in 1922 in Butler Co. Ky.
