WILLIAM CULLEN GILBERT, born 1887 in the jonesboro, illinois area, is a sibling of my grandfather SAMUEL BRAXTON GILBERT, born 1890. the boys were in the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Orphanage in Bloomington, IL for a while after the death of their mother, Lucinda Underwood Gilbert in 1897. William's father, Hayden, remarried and william left home c 1906. we have no knowledge of him after that time. if someone out there knows of him, we would appreciate your sharing what you know. we pray he had a wonderful life somewhere after having such a rough start...william's niece, jo gilbert
