Check out my database. I believe I probably have the most Massac County families and individuals included in one database online. Let me know if you have any corrections, additions, etc.

Hi Bart,

I did check out your rootsweb site. You do have lots of Massac Co., IL names. I don't have my MCIL database on Rootsweb but I think I have lots of names too. You have some info I didn't have and I have info you don't have. What Massac County families are you connected to?

Hi Dennis,

Yes, I have several Anderson's in my database from Pope and Massac counties. I don't descend from them but they married into a couple of my families.

Do you descend from David Files Anderson and Sarah M. Hannah? Their son, George W. Anderson, married my grandfather's sister, Ada Mary Rogers.

I'd be glad to help you with any of the Andersons that I can--and maybe I can update my records from you as well.

No, I descend from Isabella B Hannah b abt 1853 who married June 17, 1877 Jefferson A Anderson b 1852 Illnois who was the son of Newton Anderson b abt 1830 Illinois and Nancy Castleberry who was born abt 1832 in Kentucky.

Jefferson A Anderson was Isabella's 3rd husband and I descend from her 2nd marriage to Samuel Jackson Bonifield.
Isabella "Biddy" Hannah had 2 children with Samuel Jackson Bonifield; Charles M Bonifield b abt 1872 and Mattie May Bonifield b abt 1874.

Isabella was married to Levi Terwilliger before marrying Samuel Jackson Bonifield. Her parents were James Hanna b 1813 Ala and Mary ? who was born about 1815 TN. I believe James Hanna's father was a James Hanna from Londonderry, Ireland but have no proof. I know there is a will from Madison Co, Ala 1821, but I have never seen it.

I have the Bonifields line from the "Descendants of Gregory Bonifield", but I don't know much more about the Hanna(h)s or the Andersons.

Do you know Sarah M Hannah's ancestry? Are we related in some way?

Thanks for responding!

I look forward to hearing from you!

-Dennis

Hi again Dennis,

I only had the one Hannah (Sarah M) in my database, and no Bonifields, Castleberry's or Terwilligers. I do have a Jefferson W. Anderson, born April 3, 1851, but he is from a Bedford Co., TN family. (son of Joseph Anderson and Lucinda Green Wilson).

I doubt if we even come close to be connected unless you are in the Ragsdale, Bowman, or Robinson families but it's interesting to hear of another Anderson branch in the area. I did some brief checking on the parents of your Newton Anderson on Ancestry and they don't appear to be related to the Andersons of Massac/Pope/Johnson Counties, IL.

Hi Linda:

I have Robinsons in the Massac County area, married into the Faughn family. Do you have a Marion G. Robinson/Robison in your list? He married Nancy L. Faughn.

The Faughns married into my Crow family (Massac County) and the Robinsons married into my Rogers family but I don't have a Marion Robinson or a Nancy Faughn
