Wm A. Roper,
Indeed, sorting out the relationship to Martin Kennedy, his wife Sarah and our Wm Brown is integral to any solution to the question of who we were. As I have stated earlier I believe that Martin Kennedy was a member of our family, possibly a son-in-law. They appear to have removed to LaSalle County, IL after selling their land in Marshall County, IL. In my notes of the Marshall County, IL General Index to Grantors I have that on 9 Oct 1882 a Martin & Sally (nickname) Kennedy of LaSalle Deeded Marshall County land to a Wm Brown also of LaSalle which Deed was recorded in Deed Book 48 p. 375, unfortunately I don't have the legal description or a copy of this Deed as the Marshall County Clerks office would not allow any copies of their Deed books as it may break the bindings to lay them on a flat bed scanner, nor would they allow anyone to capture a image of the Deeds with a digital camera or a phone! I am sure I wrote down the full legal description but, don't have it readily available. At best this much later 1882 land transfer documents the fact that there was a close relationship between the Brown's and the Kennedy's for many years after their arrival in the Evans Twp area in the 1830's.
I encountered the same issues with the Deed Books that have the original Deeds for our Brown's, was not allowed to capture any images.
I have in my notes: Wm & Elizabeth Brown sold their parcels in Evans Twp sections 10 and 11 in 1842, one year after Wm Brown Sr was interred into Cherry Point Cemetery.
