No, I'm not related to the Perrys. But I knew
Elijah, and I thought his life was so interesting. This was another story us kids were interested in. Elijah was married, and his first wife and child died in childbirth. Then he remarried and his second wife and child died when their car was hit by a train near Toluca. (There was another young mother and her two children killed also) Then
Elijah remarried, and his third wife is still living as far as I know. But I couldn't imagine all the tragedy he had experienced, but you wouldn't know it to talk to him. My aunt was a flower girl at the funeral. (A tradition that has gone by the wayside)
I am going to be in Pattonsburg this Monday for a few days, and I am going to try and get some photos. I do have some of the
Dobson cemetery, but they aren't digital. This time I'll have a digital camera, so I can send them more easily. I'd be happy to send them to you when I get back.
Also, if you have anything you want me to look for in the cemeteries in the area, let me know.
(I know it sounds like us kids were obsessed with death, but honestly, those stories were so interesting!)
