Does anyone know how far back or when Marshall County starting recording marriages? My great great grandparents where married in Wenona, Evan Twp., in 1858. Thank you, Jennifer

The marriages that I find start at 1763.

The earliest residents arrived in the 1820s so it's hard to imagine that there would be records for 1763.

There aren't a lot of records available because the County Courthouse in Lacon burned in the early 1900s.

According to the Handy Book For Genealogists, the County Clerk has marriage records from 1840.

The Lacon Courthouse has marriage records from 1839. Address is 122 N. Prairie St., Lacon, IL 61540. Phone number is (309) 246-6325. Marriage records are $7. I was told personal check or money order is okay. The fee is kept whether or not they are able to find the record you want. They also asked for a copy of a driver's license.
