The following is a newspaper clipping from the
Sandoval, ILL area dated Friday Oct.4, 1929. My Great Grandmother had saved it b/c the victim was her sister's son.
Cutting
Scrape At
Sandoval Sunday
A cutting scrape occurred at
Sandoval last Sunday morning about 12:30 o'clock after a dance, which took place there. Dean
Thomason (sic), aged 21, according to reports was cut by Elmer
Kinney, living west of Patoka, when the two mentioned are alleged to have engaged in a quarrel.
Thomason was taken to the St. Mary's hospital in Centralia where fifty-two stitches were required to sew up his wounds. After the wounds were closed up
Thomason was released from the hospital.
According to authorities the nature of the argument was not known, neither was it know what kind of a weapon was used in making the cuts on
Thomason. Thomason bled profusely from his wounds, which are not considered serious.
Efforts are being made Monday to find
Kinney but he was not apprehended that day.
