Johannes Loyet came to America on 15 September 1840 and he bought land in Black Jack. He married Elisabeth Loos on 20 april 1843 in Belleville, Illinois. He died in 1852 during the Cholera epidemic and is buried with many other family members of what is now "Mersinger's Farm" in Madison Co. Other family members from Holzhof, Germany, soon immigrated to the same area. Joseph Loyet married Apollonia Becki on 21 April 1866 in St. Louis, MO but lived in the Black Jack/Highland area. Joseph died in 1878 in Troy. Most of the children were sent to live with other families and relatives. I am looking for all the Loyet, Mersinger, Loos, and Becki cousins that still reside in the area.
